After working nomadically in schools, colleges, universities and other creative business spaces all over Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire for the last 5 years our company Greenshoots (www.greenshootsnottingham.co.uk) has now managed to acquire a home at The Lofthouse Unit 6, 35 Warser Gate, Lace Market, Nottingham, NG1 1NU. We plan to utilise the space to provide creatives from our area with a place

that they can get their artistic juices flowing in and show the world what they can do. We will be running the education side of our business from here for the foreseeable future but also will be putting on performances, films, bands, art workshops and providing space for community groups to run a variety of projects including a community choir, Women Into The Future, Women into Broadcasting and Into Film, a project that provides education through film making for 14 -19 year olds. As we receive very little outside funding our main room also works as a venue for performing artists, bands and exhibitions which is open to the public at certain times and has a bar that provides much needed revenue to help the whole endeavour to work !! We now have a full on licence to sell alcohol at our events which will help us raise revenue to enable the courses to continue to run for FREE. We are aiming to add a venue page to our online presence very soon to enable customers and clients to keep up-to-date with our events and courses. In the last 6 years we have not charged anybody a penny to partake in any of our courses and The Lofthouse as a venue will help our business be sustainable and help us to continue to provide FREE classes for all !!

After a life time of running venues in Nottingham City Centre and promoting the local arts community, I thought that maybe The Lofthouse had been our last one. Time to put the feet up on me boat !! But how could I say no when working with these guys !!
Avarni and Lukas’ Wigflex and Will’s Im Not From London have always evoked memories of The Garage, The Kool Kat and The Dubble Bubble as we’ve always tried to span the ‘genres’ that we work with, not to mention how we all love getting involved in Art, Design and Fashion in our endeavours. Being in a room with this lot, the positivity is palpable.

Our only moans were to each other about finding the right space for our next individual projects and one night, when we were getting excited about the future, we decided it would be amazing to pool our resources and get somewhere WAY bigger than we could have managed on our own.

So, we’re back on it and REALLY excited to announce that we will be opening our new joint Arts Hub venue FISHER GATE POINT soon !! There’s loads of work to do before we can show you what we’ve got planned, but watch this space, come and get involved and we can’t wait to see you all here !! Peace and love ###
