Set up in 1999 by filmmakers Donna Bowyer, Chris Cooke and Adam Robertson, bang! was created to provide a non-competitive, inclusive platform on which local filmmakers could see both their work and that of other film makers exhibited in a quality cinema environment and a place to network and support each other. Of equal importance was the creation of an eclectic programme of regional & internation
al filmmaking made to a standard to attract an audience to view the short film genre. We started with just one section in the festival, the Main Event, and over the years we have expanded that to the 9 sections we have today. has been involved in many festival exchanges, screenings out in the community and around the music festival circuit. We have 9 sections screening different genres:
