In stock are the latest publications from Laine. The autumn release of Issue 30 Layers is packed with fashionable knits for cooler weather.

We’ve also taken delivery of The Anniversary Issue which marks 10 years of Nordic Knit Life. This is a collection of 23 patterns from international designers who have contributed to Laine Publications over the years.

On a very wet day in Nottingham, I am studying these 2 releases for my next project. I may be some time 😀

My summer break with my son Joe when we went to Manchester. We were at The Lowry which I had always wanted to visit. The exhibits showed what a great artist Lowry was. So glad we visited.

I graduated from Manchester University 40 years ago, yes I’m sure you can work out my age. Joe and I walked around the beautiful campus and even made a brief peak at the Rutherford lecture theatre in Physics. This brought back memories of the time when only one of us (there were 45 of us) passed the Statistics module in 1984. Everybody else failed, not because we were thick but because we couldn’t understand the lectures. Yes we all laughed when the exam results were published. None of us were surprised and certainly nobody was devastated. Needless to say Statistics is not my favourite subject 🤣. Thank goodness my degree is in Biochemistry.

We have had a wonderful time in Manchester. I convinced Joe to play the piano at Manchester Piccadilly station. He did marvellous which will help towards his preparation for Grade 8 exams soon.

❤️

What a splendid production! We were at the Nottingham Shakespeare Company performance of The Tempest. It was their last performance of the current run which was at The Embankment by River Trent on a warm summer evening. Fabulous performances from the cast.

I was at their Henry V performance a few years ago which was just perfect. Looking forward to next year’s show.

It was also perfect opportunity to continue with my latest knit. I’m almost done with the ribbing of Salthouse. Very soon I’ll be onto the body.

Whilst still sewing in the numerous yarn ends in my Kaffe Fassett knit, I decided to start another project. I am casting on Salthouse with two yarns held together. The yarns are Alpaca Wool and Alpaca Haze both of which are from Mode @ Rowan collection.

After a challenging intarsia knit, I am looking forward to a quite mindless knitting in the round sleeveless top. It should be a quick project I hope 😄

Currently Rowan Softyak DK is reduced from the rrp of £10.85 to £9. I’m making space for new yarns. Hurry - while stocks last.

Softyak DK transcends the seasons thanks to its blend of cotton, yak and nylon. It has a stunningly soft handle and is static resistant and anti-microbial, which means the fabric stays fresher for longer. The chainette construction makes it surprisingly light for a cotton rich double-knitting yarn and it’s available in colours ranging from muted tones to rich jewel shades.

This is my favourite summer knit in West Yorkshire Spinners Element DK. The sleeveless top knit is adjusted from a child’s cricket jumper designed by Debbie Bliss. I love the feel and drape of the garment. Pattern and yarn are in stock if you want to give it a go knitting this pretty top.

A quick update of my holiday knit, Optical. As you can see this is a Kaffe Fassett design and the yarn is my favourite Felted Tweed. It’s an intarsia knit and I have many ends to sew in later, such joy 🤩.
