Together, attendees will take part in a ceremony led by Winter, create grave rubbings on fabric, explore intuitive art-making and ritual gestures, and reflect on remembrance, care, and community.

This session grows from Winter’s ongoing practice of honouring untended graves across Nottingham, offering simple acts of respect and remembrance through creative ritual.

Chaos Magic presents Wyrding

An exploration into the realm of the strange, the uncanny, and the q***r. It is a place where primal fears and instincts have given rise to myths and monsters, emerging from the wilds beyond society’s boundaries. We emerge from the wilderness of the weird, empowered by the shadows of the unknown, where monsters dwell.

The realm of the weird is a forbidden land, fenced off by societal norms and dictated by systems of power. It is inhabited by folk devils, beasts, ghosts, and phantoms—creatures that challenge the stability of the status quo. In discovering a glorious strangeness to wield against the oppression of the mundane, we reclaim the abject as a powerful form of resistance.

🕯This exhibition runs from 26th October to 8th December in partnership with BACKLIT's " The Last Horror Show "

🕯👻 OPENING NIGHT on 25th October not to be missed! 👻🕯

Featuring work by Masah Azar, Winter Beaumont, Tomas Cobbett, Carrie Grainger, Amie Higgins, Lily Hollywell, Tyler Mellins, Nellie O’, Craig David Parr, and T’kya Xavier.

🕯Workshops and performances to be announced.🕯

Freerunningsleep is a work-in-progress by Christopher Bond . A brief sketch of a new work acts as a semi-lucid meditation on folk remedies, time loops, and what it is to observe, intervene and play minor parts in the lives of others. Here the artist draws from obscured shift notes in harm reduction roles, legal observer training, and other forms of neutrality which conversely - heighten subjectivity.

Much of the footage of Freerunningsleep was gathered on the grounds of the now closed local artist space and residency project ‘The Field’ in Shipley, Derbyshire. This footage was taken weeks before the planned demolition of the site.

Christopher Bond is an artist and writer who lives and works in London. Their work through photography and text explores ambiguity as a mode of artistic thought as well as a term that applies to the ‘stretching’ of existing models of social systems to places unknowable and complex.

Christopher Bond has previously shown work and delivered talks with South London Gallery, Firstsite Colchester, Saatchi Gallery and Auto Italia. They were awarded funding by the Elephant Trust in 2022, and selected for the New Contemporaries in 2021. They graduated from BA Fine Art at Goldsmiths in 2020 and were a resident of the Conditions Studio Programme 2020-2021.

Repost 🖤
Announcement: Joey Holder, 'Cryptid'
Exhibition 25th November 2023 - 17th February 2024
(Exhibition open by appointment only between Dec 18th - 31st)

Two Queens is proud to announce our forthcoming exhibition by Joey Holder, 'Cryptid'.

A Cryptid is a creature which may or may not exist, unrecognised by mainstream science. Cryptozoology is a pseudoscience, which primarily looks at anecdotal stories, and other claims rejected by the scientific community. An astonishing 86% of all plants and animals on land and 91% of those in the seas have yet to be named and catalogued. With the majority of life in the sea unmapped, unobserved, and unexplored there are millions of ‘Cryptids’ out there - this project is a speculation on these creatures alongside those that have been ‘captured’ and catalogued by mankind.

Centred around an immersive installation showing shifting, layered footage of plankton from laboratory cameras, imagined creatures from cryptozoology forums and conspiracy sites, and set to an electronic score by AJA, ‘Cryptid’ adopts a diagrammatic aesthetic, with Holder using the visual language of science, rhythmic data streams and electron microscope photography, informed by collaboration with marine biologists. Using 3D modelling, AI generative images of deep sea creatures and mystical symbology she reveals the interdimensional zone these creatures occupy across popular culture, and their importance to all life on earth.

The exhibition will be accompanied by a programme of talks and workshops, more details to be announced. This exhibition is made possible by public funding from The National Lottery through Arts Council England.
