A little preview from Emma and Adam’s wedding at Swanley Meadows in Cheshire 🌿📸⁠

One of my favourite tipi wedding venues, and such a brilliant place for a relaxed summer wedding.⁠
⁠
Emma and Adam had their ceremony outside underneath Swanley Meadows’ amazing 200-year-old beech tree, followed by a day that just had such a lovely, laid-back atmosphere from start to finish 🙌⁠

Really happy to have picked up a Story Award from This is Reportage for this wedding at Wharfedale Grange in Yorkshire 🏆✨⁠
⁠
Story Awards are ridiculously hard to win. Thousands of entries go in, and only around the top 1-2% are awarded, so I’m properly chuffed with this one.⁠
⁠
A massive thank you to the judges, and an even bigger thank you to my couple for trusting me to photograph their day exactly as it happened.⁠
⁠
A Story Award is a series of images from one wedding, judged as a full collection rather than as individual photos.⁠
⁠
So it’s not just about one big “wow” image.⁠
⁠
It’s about the whole thing.⁠
⁠
The moments, the atmosphere, the quiet bits, the chaos, the funny little in-between moments, the people, the feeling of the day, and whether the full set of photos works together as a proper story.⁠

Shots o’clock! 🥃📸⁠

These two got married at Hidden Hive in Nottinghamshire and it was an absolute cracking day 🙌⁠
⁠
Things started slightly differently, with the bride and groom walking into the venue together to a huge round of applause from all their guests, which pretty much set the tone for the day!⁠
⁠
It was a really relaxed wedding with around 50 of their favourite people there, but what it lacked in numbers it definitely didn’t lack in characters 😂⁠
⁠
Especially once the dance floor got going… 🕺🍻⁠
⁠
These are just a few of my favourite moments from the day. Loads of laughter, brilliant reactions and all the random little things that happen when everyone’s just enjoying themselves and forgetting there’s a photographer around.⁠

I’ve got a wedding at the amazing Molecey Mill in Lincolnshire coming up this Saturday, and I can’t wait to be back there! 🙌⁠
⁠
So I thought it was a good excuse to dig out a few photos from the last time I photographed a wedding there.⁠
⁠
And what better way to show off such a brilliant venue than with a set of photos that won a Story Award from This Is Reportage for documentary storytelling 🏆✨⁠

Everything you see here happened exactly as you see it. Nobody was being told where to stand or what to do.⁠
⁠
It’s one of my all-time favourite weddings because the celebrations had loads of character, tonnes of energy, and I think that really comes through in the photos!⁠ ⚡️⁠

I love the challenge of filling the frame, and the opening photo captures the business and energy of prep.

Seeing the groomsman get slapped on the back of the head as his brace pings off - never thought I see this 🤣

Establishing shots - I'm looking for inspiration when setting the scene. What better than a horse?

I love a bit of unexpected symmetry in a ceremony 😍

My couple told me the photo with the fans looks like an album cover - I'll take that.

Flying child - this was taken whilst guests were gathering for group photos. Never stop observing.

These really capture the playful energy of the couple.

Speeches - hand in the air with negative space to a tight frame of reactions with hand on face and chest. I love to capture emotion during speeches. Speeches are always a highlight of weddings I find.

Another scene setter - this time, I've used the bunting to frame the guests and to add more colours to the scene to create something striking.

Three years since your wedding at one of my favourite venues, Pippley Walled Garden in Nottingham.⁠

It was such a brilliant day to photograph, and looking back through the gallery again, there are still so many photos that have really stuck with me several years later 📸❤️⁠

That’s one of the things I love about wedding photos. You can come back to them years later and suddenly be taken straight back to the people, the atmosphere and all those little moments happening throughout the day.⁠

A little preview from Jake and Amber’s brilliant wedding at Ed's Hilltop Tent in Stamford, Lincolnshire! 🥳📸⁠
⁠
They had an outdoor ceremony on hay bales, with a family friend officiating, loads of personal touches and a fair bit of wind thrown in for good measure 😂🌬️⁠
⁠
There were around 140 guests, so it was definitely one of the busiest weddings I’ve photographed for a while. But the best thing was that Jake and Amber had left loads of time between the ceremony and the wedding breakfast.⁠

For me, that’s absolute gold 🙌⁠
⁠
It meant nobody was rushing around and I had loads of time to wander, watch what was happening and capture loads of those candid little moments between everyone. Exactly the sort of stuff I love photographing.⁠

Such a good excuse to go back through your wedding at Swanley Meadows in Cheshire.⁠

I was really happy to be there for what was, at the time, the very first legal wedding ceremony held at the venue. Pretty cool to have been part of that, especially as I’ll be heading back there again this summer! 📸⁠

Going through your photos again, I realised that quite a few of the frames I picked out as favourites when I first shared your wedding are still some of my favourites now.⁠

Although you might completely disagree, but that's the beauty of art 😂⁠
