With the current prolonged dry weather, grass, shrubs and other vegetation can ignite very quickly, increasing the risk of fires spreading and causing serious damage to our parks, wildlife and surrounding areas.

Please help us keep everyone safe by not bringing BBQs, fire pits or any open flames into our parks. We also ask that parents/ guardians talk to their children about the consequences of setting fires deliberately.

If you see smoke or signs of a fire, leave the area safely and call 999 straight away.

Thank you for doing your part to protect our green spaces and ensure they can be enjoyed by everyone. 🌳💚

☀️ Today is going to be another hot day, and while most people will enjoy the weather responsibly, we're asking everyone to think twice before lighting fires outdoors.

During the first week of the summer holidays, deliberate outdoor fires more than doubled in Nottinghamshire compared to the same period last year. In hot, dry conditions, even a small fire can quickly spread and put people, wildlife and property at risk.

We ask that whatever you do, you do it safely, and that your children know the consequences of setting fires deliberately.

We’ve only gone and done it again! Four Gedling borough parks have retained their prestigious Green Flag Award for 2026, with Arnot Hill Park marking an incredible 20 consecutive years of recognition. Burton Road Jubilee Park celebrates its 11th year and Gedling Country Park it’s 10th. Breck Hill Park has secured the accolade for the fifth year running.

A huge well done to all of the volunteers involved in supporting the park as well as the staff, and of course the visitors who make our green spaces even more special.

Come and pay a visit to Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust who'll have a stand in Arnot Hill Park from Wednesday 17th to Sunday 21st June from 10am to 4pm.

The Wildlife Trust aims to provide visitors with information about local wildlife, conservation work, and opportunities for community involvement. They'll also be at Arnold Summer Fair all day in Arnot Hill Park on Saturday 20th June. Come along and find out more about local biodiversity and conservation efforts.
