My second graphite drawing after picking up the pencil again in 2024. This piece was an exploration of texture, light, and value within the human face, rediscovering what I love about graphite.

Match day

I enjoy watching my local cricket team playing at home. I sit under the shade of a tree and try a bit of sketching. I had sketched the club pavilion a few times and players, whether in action or at rest. On this occasion I put some of my sketches together and created this watercolour and sepia pen drawing of the players entering the pavilion for their lunch break. The club has accepted my offer to donate the painting for hanging in the clubhouse.

He wanted a painting of his first grandchild.
Having a selection of photos to hand, I set about painting this one.
It's painted in oil and was completed over a few months in my spare time
