Our new Fellowship Open Call closes soon 💫

Apply now for our global open call for the 2027 Asymmetry Assistant Curator Fellowship, with the deadline fast approaching you don't want to miss out on this opportunity.

This fellowship offers an early-career curator development in their practical curatorial experience within one of Europe’s leading contemporary art institutions and is geared towards an early-career practitioner who, to any extent, identifies with Chinese or Sinophone cultures or backgrounds, offering an immersive introduction to contemporary curatorial practice.

For more information on the fellowship and application process, visit our website via link below: https://www.nottinghamcontemporary.org/about/work-with-us/

📢Application deadline: Sun 25 Oct 2026

Together, Asymmetry Art and Nottingham Contemporary have conceived the fellowship as a meaningful pathway into curatorial practice, combining hands-on institutional experience with space for independent research, experimentation and public engagement.

🌟Our Autumn Season is open, visit us this weekend!  🍂

Join us for our opening weekend and explore our two new Autumn Season Exhibitions, Sarah Cunngingham: Midnight Sun and Julia Isídrez: Mud is everything. 🙌

We are proud to be presenting the first institutional solo exhibition, and largest presentation of works to date, of the late British artist Sarah Cunningham (1993–2024, UK).

This exhibition marks a deeply meaningful homecoming: the return of the artist’s work to the city where she was born and raised. Spread across galleries 2 and 3, you can explore small to large scale abstract paintings of rich wildernesses and forest-scapes that take you to worlds unknown. 🌎🌳

In gallery 1 we are delighted to showcase the first international institutional solo exhibition of Julia Isídrez (b.1967, Paraguay), whose clay sculptures trouble and enlighten many issues that define cultural debate today – from Indigeneity and identity politics to craft.

Rooted in the ceramic traditions passed down through generations of women in Itá, Isídrez learned the craft from her mother Juana Marta Rodas, working with local clay and long-standing Guaraní techniques that were gradually adapted over time. 🐛🦕

🎟️ We have lots of exhibition related events this season; an upcoming Welcome Walkthrough, Teacher CPD, Wednesday Walkthroughs for both exhibitions, workshops and a live performances - visit the link in our to book your free tickets!

Make sure to book your free exhibition entry to avoid queuing on arrival as our opening weekends are often busy. 🎟️

There is an option to donate at the time of booking - your donations make it possible to keep doing everything we do: from our world-leading exhibitions to our activities for families, young people and schools. With your support we can continue making a difference to the cultural, educational and social life of Nottingham and the East Midlands. Thank you. 🙏
