Club Wormhole presents two work-in-progresses by friend of the Club, Nate Kitch, and Club of the friend, Katie Mitchell.

NATE KITCH
I return (again), industry plant, hat in hand, more jackets, sold out, similar. A version of a comedy show of a life manufactured, all to scale (1:1) but what if I broke it? Pockets are getting full, weighed down: stars, nominations, a urinal or a lid. Don’t narrow your gaze, I’m stuck and cannot go back to your frownland. ‘Post-modern yet old school... glorious’ (List). ‘A comic masterclass... like jazz’ ***** (Scotsman). ‘Clearly a case of emperor’s new clothes’ (Audience Review). ****** (Chortles.co.uk).

KATIE MITCHELL
In the Los Angeles suburb of Ilkeston, Derbyshire, there’s scams brewin’. Under the earth, seeping up between your toes from where the coal used to be. Here is a place of monsters, darkness and sports! Join the World’s Greatest Sportsman Katie Mitchell for an hour of absolute silliness about how growing up an orphan on a council estate is the third funnest thing you can do. In an ambitious return to character comedy, Mitchell (Best in Class 2023, **** BroadwayWorld.com, **** TheWeeReview,com) is setting out to make her silliest and yet most autobiographical show yet.

And our Rock(DJ)in’ Geography teacher was Nate Kitch; the comic (me)

Tickets are available for Katie Mitchell and Nate Kitch’s previews on Monday 27th July at Fishergate Point.

We’re taking a break in August due to the national shortage of comedians, England’s loss is very much Scotland’s gain. If you’re at the Edinburgh Festival, 𝔎𝔞𝔱𝔦𝔢 𝔐𝔦𝔱𝔠𝔥𝔢𝔩𝔩 | ℭ𝔬𝔪𝔢𝔡𝔦𝔞𝔫 🏳️‍🌈 and Ben Macpherson both have shows, along with many friends of the club.

Get in the hole and join the club; we are going on an adventure! Club Wormhole welcomes all to join our gang of alt comedians, clowns and weirdos for a night of comedy, art and transcendence!

We all remember high school, right? Pep rallies to attend, pop quizzes to ace, supernatural beings to vanquish, and promposals to plan! You’d think the end of the world would be the perfect reason to cancel class, but at Wormhole High the school bus stops for no one!

Join hosts Jamie and Laurie as they navigate A.P. History, after-school clubs and alien invasions. Do they have hidden powers to fend off those threatening Wormhole High? Let’s hope so - book reports are due tomorrow!

But help is on the way - is it the military? The FBI? Any responsible adult at all? Of course not! Gracing the auditorium this month are Vix Leyton, our very own Katie Mitchell, and club favourite Nate Kitch in the headline slot. See you on July 6th, or it’s detention!

ONE WEEK UNTIL SCHOOL’S *IN* FOR SUMMER

Access info: There is a small step at the front door that there is a portable ramp to cover. There are four steps to the show space that there is a platform wheelchair lift (rated to 250kg) to bypass. There is a lip at the entrance to the room (at most 2cm high). There are accessible toilets on the same level as the venue space. See video in our pinned stories.

This month, Club Wormhole’s own Katie Mitchell takes to the stage for a sneak peek into her new solo show Giddy - which plays at London’s Museum of Comedy just two days before our show! Visit the Los Angeles suburb of Ilkeston, Derbyshire - a place of monsters, darkness and sports! “A juggernaut of a comic performer” - Blizzard Comedy.

Katie’s surreal, whimsical, gothic and q***r comedy has earned her a cult following across the East midlands and beyond. She has been selected for Best in Class at the Edinburgh Fringe, shortlisted for the BBC New Comedy Award, headlined Chippenham Comedy Festival, and played to sell out crowds in back-to-back Edinburgh runs.

Club Wormhole welcomes all for a night of comedy, art and transcendence - Get in the hole!

2024 finalist of Museum of Comedy’s ‘Not so new comedian of the year,’ Vix Leyton makes her Wormhole debut this month, bringing her “affable and ebullient” charm (Chortle) and “a talent for reading a room and playing with an audience” (Mark Watson). Can’t wait until July? Check out Vix’s special Antihero, available now on OUTflix!

She might be new to the club, but there’s every chance you’ve already heard of Vix Leyton - whether it’s from her panel show podcast The Comedy Arcade (nominated for Leicester Comedy’s best podcast in 2021), or as her consumer champion alter-ego, talking about clubcard points on BBC Morning Live.

Long-time friend of the show Nate Kitch joins us once again, having seen his show Something Different!!!! transfer from an acclaimed Edinburgh run to the Soho Theatre. With 5-star reviews from the Scotsman and Entertainment Now, there’s no denying the appeal of Nate’s enigmatic brand of comedy - even if no one quite knows what it is!

“The entire room is rocking with uncontrollable laughter. It is a long time since I have experienced anything quite like it.” - Broadway Baby

Nate has been nominated for every award you can think of; from the Malcolm Hardee award for comic originality to best newcomer at the Fringe - but mostly we’re excited to have him back at the club.
