Dance Your Way to Good Health -
Weight bearing exercise is an important action you can take to improve the strength of your bones. Exercise has also been proven to reduce the risk of falls, cancer, back pain, heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, depression and dementia. Dancing is widely acknowledged as being a good form of exercise and it’s never too late to start. So let’s get dancin
g now to keep our bodies and minds healthy in the future! However, if you don’t feel up to joining a Zumba or Jive class and perhaps don’t have a partner to take along, Circle Dancing ticks all the boxes! Circle Dancing has been described as the biggest variety of music and dance on the planet! The dances can be energetic and lively or gentle and reflective and some have a spiritual quality. The faster dances exercise the heart and lungs, whilst the slower ones help with balance and co- ordination. Each dance is demonstrated and walked through first, and it’s OK for you to adapt your movements if necessary to accommodate that dodgy knee or hip. Best of all -you don’t need to bring a partner. Our well-loved motto is ‘there are no mistakes, only variations’. The aim is to experience the joy of dancing with others to create a sense of well-being and community. We meet at Rollesby Village Hall on most Friday afternoon’s from 2 to 3 pm followed by a ½ hour break for refreshments. This is followed by a beginner’s session from 3.30 to 4.30pm. and accompanied children are welcome to come to this session. I decided to have the beginners session after the main one to fit in with school hours. Cost is £3 for one session and £5 for both (incl refreshments). Rollesby dates – Sept 12th, 19th, 26th
