Gray Area Gallery Art Gallery & Art consultancy in NR2, Norwich

We aim to display art that falls in the grey area of what's usually displayed.

We are very happy to announce that we are officially representing Caitlin Flood-Molyneux 🥳
We have worked with Cailtin since the exhibition OUTLORE, and it has been amazing to watch their career continue to boom with great projects and increasingly strong and eye-catching works 🔥Caitlin’s pieces are personal and work through hardships, yet are universal in their use of iconic imagery and vibrant colours allowing viewers to forge their own connections with the works!

We have loved working with Caitlins pieces and helping to find their new homes! We will continue to feature many stand out works and are excited for future projects and collaborations, so watch this space! 🤩 for now you can browse the available pieces on Caitlin’s page on our website or email us for further information at [email protected]

ARTWORK OF THE MONTH 🙌

Torso Fragment by Mark Mann, ceramic cast and hand carved, glazed, 34 x 17 x 5cm

Mark Mann’s fragments are an ongoing series that were first conceived of and shown at his solo show ‘A Room of One’s Own’ in the Museum of Classical Archaeology in Cambridge. Being wall mounted, the fragments allow ceramics to be enjoyed in a new way, bringing sculptures to your walls and making owning ceramics less precarious or space consuming! They embrace the faults, breakages and mishaps that come with working in ceramics, and celebrate the ‘happy accidents’ and the beauty in faults.

This ‘Torso Fragment’ is a brand new piece created by Mark and features a beautiful green/brown glaze. There are also plenty of other pieces to browse through on our website!

Gray Area Gallery’s Summer Open Call exhibtion is back! With the new theme of ‘Duality’! 🔥

How does your artwork incorporate Duality? Do you combine a mixture of materials? Are you depicting a double sided subject matter? Is your artwork inspired by contrasting ideas? Can your work be read in two different ways? As an artist do you face two identities?

These are just some examples of how your work could fit our brief, and we are excited to hear how your work embraces Duality!

We are also excited to announce that this year we have a guest curator 🙌 the artist and designer who will form the selection panel alongside Kenza Gray and Marie-Laurence Boisvert. Mann stated:
“Within my own work duality explores the tension between beauty and rupture, where fragility and strength, mythology and personal experience coexist within the same space.
I’m interested in how objects can hold opposing emotional states simultaneously, such as tenderness and loss or refinement and erosion, where seductive surfaces reveal uneasy truths.”

Don’t miss out, applications are NOW OPEN and close on July 5th, more information about the open call and how to enter can be found on our website 🔥 link in bio!

Do you know an artist that should apply? Tag them !

Our Artwork of the Month is this striking new work 'Two Footed Two' by Dan Bloodworth, one of the many brand new pieces heading with us to The Affordable Art Fair Hampstead Heath (May 6-10th) 🔥

Dan Bloodworth is a London based artist whose paintings are full of stories, intrigue and character. Distinctly him, this piece features Dan’s layered way of painting, building up texture on the canvas with elements that were painted over, just about visible beneath the surface.

‘Two Footed Two’ is a striking work with an earthy colour palette. The white horse creates a bold contrast to the gorgeous mustard and terracotta brown. The energy of the piece is focussed on the rearing horse pulling away, or reacting to, the snake beside it, whilst the rider is calm and relaxed created a dynamic scene!

A classic Dan Bloodworth piece, it’s bold nature is eye catching and thought provoking!

We are very happy to continue our collaboration with Ailsa Ogden! Ailsa's works will be on show with us very soon at the in Hampstead Heath 🤩
studio is a London-based artist whose practice engages painting as a site of instability, where the body is constructed and undone through layering, repetition, and interruption. Drawing on q***r visual culture, their work resists fixed representation, presenting figures that remain partial, obscured and in flux.

Head down to our stand at the fair to see Ailsa’s works in person! DM us to see any works or for more information 🔥
