The Dysfunction Room: a slew of wonderful adventures, fancy moves and happy shouts from four Norwich comedians - Paul Knight, Hilary Koe, Tom Read and Jake Wyatt - plus associates, aiming to deliver excellent bursts of alternative nightlife, dazzling literature, musical escapades and acts of stupidity to Norwich and thereabouts. UB, amalgamating Norwich’s first satirical nightclub, The Cutting Room (2009-11 at The Workshop, Aylsham Road), and the loony characterful stand-up and sketch show, Normal Service Will Be Resumed Shortly (2010-11 on The Brickmakers' B2 stage). The Dysfunction Room Comedy Club was a monthly comedy showcase at Farmer Browns Restaurant in Tombland, featuring national headliners (Bethany Black, Frank Sanazi, Peter Buckley Hill, Tony Cowards, Mme Charlotte-Ann Arcati, Julian Daniel, Scott Agnew and Vince Atta) with local support and the occasional band. It was a place where people came to laugh at things they probably shouldn’t laugh at. In 2012 we produced two free entry monthly shows - THE DYSFUNCTIONAL PUB QUIZ at The Bridge Tavern on Riverside, offering really wonderfully disappointing prizes, and THE BROKEN SPINE SOCIETY at Frank’s Bar, Bedford Street, for new fiction, poetry, articles, comedy and musical numbers from our ever-expanding network of writers and performers. And during the summers of 2012 and 2013 we took a gang of Norwich comedians to the GYPSY IN THE FIELD Acoustic Festival in Aylsham. http://www.gypsyinthefield.co.uk/
Our monthly Comedy night at Farmer Browns came to an end in March 2013 so Paul could focus on PEACHY, a fantastic monthly immersive late night party with DJs, bands, cabaret, movies, comedy, dance, sparks and drips of goodness (November 2012 to April 2013 at Karma Kafe, May 2013 to February 2014 at Norwich Waterfront). The Cutting Room was resurrected by Paul in late November 2013, grudgingly forced out of retirement by the actions of pompous career politicians, grinning religious fanatics, and a jabbering crowd of meaningless celebrities, pro hunting lobbyists and other assorted maniacs.
