Norwich Puppet Theatre

Norwich Puppet Theatre An inspirational centre for the development and celebration of puppet theatre.

Norwich Puppet Theatre is one of only a handful of theatres in England that is dedicated to creating, presenting and supporting innovation in puppetry and related art forms. Throughout the year, NPT programmes leading international puppetry companies for Early Years audiences, families and adults. We also create and tour our own productions; recent shows include The Tinderbox, Pied Piper and Red R

iding Hood. We hold regular workshops for all age groups and provide professional development opportunities with masterclasses led by leading figures within the industry. The Theatre is housed in a Grade 1 listed Medieval building in the centre of Norwich, the church of Saint James, which still includes many original features but is also now home to a large family of puppets.

WHAT'S ON: LUNATRAKTORS, Our Deepest Sympathies
Saturday 29 August 2026 | Doors 19:30 | £15

Broken folk duo Lunatraktors are back in Norwich, and the Puppet Theatre is the perfect room for them.

Clair Le Couteur and Carli Jefferson take Anglo-Celtic traditional song apart and rebuild it: three-octave overtone singing, a tonal percussion kit drawing on tap, flamenco and body percussion, plus free reeds, whistles and analogue synth. Traditional material reassembled through triphop, post-punk and flamenco.

'Salvaged songs, archival fragments, chaos and energetic ideas' (The Guardian)
'A celebration of creativity itself' (The Quietus)

LUNATRAKTORS - Our Deepest Sympathies
Saturday 29 August | Doors 19:30 | £15

Broken folk duo Lunatraktors bring their show Our Deepest Sympathies to Norwich Puppet Theatre this August.

Clair Le Couteur and Carli Jefferson take Anglo-Celtic traditional song and pull it apart - three-octave overtone singing, tonal percussion built from tap and flamenco, free reeds, whistles and analogue synth. It's traditional material reassembled through a love of triphop, post-punk and flamenco, and it sounds like nothing else you'll hear in a theatre this year.

'A celebration of creativity itself' - The Quietus

THIS SATURDAY: The DaSilva Marionette Circus Troupe
Sat 15 August | 11am and 2.30pm | 45 minutes | Ages 3+

The circus is coming to town, and it is about three feet tall.

Eighteen hand carved trick marionettes perform a full big top show: aerial acrobatics on the flying trapeze, spectacular cycling stunts, trampolining ups and downs, and a cheeky clown who takes the joke that bit too far, with disastrous consequences.

Here is the lovely part. These puppets were built by Ray and Joan DaSilva, the founders of this theatre. They have toured internationally for almost half a century, and they have been brought back to life by Nik Palmer, Ray and Joan's son, alongside Sarah Rowland-Barker, a former circus performer with Snapdragon and NoFit State Circus. So this is the DaSilva puppets coming home to the stage they came from.

Two performances, 11am and 2.30pm. Book now: https://buytickets.at/norwichpuppettheatre/2341436
