It’s been an honour to connect with every participant in the Roots classes, and after only one term, some of them have risen to the challenge of taking part in a fundraising performance this Saturday evening at Norwich Puppet Theatre. I’m so looking forward to the show and also to what next term unearths!

Roots

Grounded. Connected. Nourished.

Through physical theatre and contemporary dance techniques, explore new ways of (re)connecting to yourself, others and the world around you through movement exercises focusing on embodiment and expression. Explore stories and narratives through themes and stimuli, working as an ensemble, with a partner, and sometimes alone to create heartfelt and joyful responses.

Vatic Theatre is a site-specific physical theatre company based in Norwich. We create visually striking work which responds to local and global issues, using physicality as our primary means of
expression. We also offer training, workshops and residencies. Between us we have trained and worked with the likes of WildWorks, Gecko, Sally Cookson, Emma Rice, Rosie Kay, Dan Canham and Miranda Cromwell.

All levels are welcome: the way we work is adaptable. Sessions will take place on Tuesday evenings at the beautiful dance studio at Copperdot, Trowse, NR14 8SX. On-street parking is available.

Sessions start Tuesday 23rd September, 7pm – 9pm
£10 per session, 1st term is 12 weeks (term time only)
Payment can be made per half term or per term.

Not sure? Come and try it out for the first session with no obligation to continue if it’s not for you.

Testimonials from our recent residency at Norwich Theatre:

“It was an accepting, encouraging atmosphere and I felt free and at ease to experiment.”

“A deeply satisfying day connecting to my body and exploring the creativity that arises physically.”

“I feel like I’ve been granted an incredibly effective tool with which to work, and that it takes much of the fear from the work, because it so quickly already bound us to each other; you’ve connected us.”

Norwich Charitable Trusts welcomed us in to search the Directory for Social Change in their office.
We were able to carry out a refined search for local and National funding bodies so that we can hopefully create more vital and boundary pushing work locally.

Thank you to Norwich Charitable Trust and to Jonathan Baker who told us about this facility.
