Voices by the Sea is a small vocal ensemble from The Norwich Choir, bringing the beauty of unaccompanied singing to the Isle of Wight. Their eclectic repertoire spans six centuries of music, from Renaissance masterpieces and folk songs to spirituals, contemporary classics and timeless favourites, creating moments that will make you smile, reflect and remember.

🎶 A baton… and a little friendly competition! 🎶

Yesterday marked a very special moment in the story of The Norwich Choir as the baton was officially passed from Meg Turpin, who founded the choir in 2008, to our new Musical Director, Jason Lambert.

Of course, before the handover became official, there was just enough time for a playful “Conduct in the style of…” challenge! 🎼😂 From dramatic flourishes to a few familiar conducting styles, there were plenty of laughs alongside the music. (Make sure you watch the video!)

Over the past 18 years, Meg has nurtured The Norwich Choir into the vibrant, welcoming community it is today, bringing together hundreds of singers through a shared love of music and friendship.

Now we’re excited to begin a new chapter under Jason’s musical direction. With fresh ideas, infectious enthusiasm and a passion for making choral singing accessible to everyone, the future is looking bright.

The good news is that Meg isn’t disappearing entirely. She’ll continue supporting the choir behind the scenes during the transition, ensuring everything is in safe hands as this exciting new era begins.
