Last open mic of the season this Saturday! We’ve just about recovered from Forncett Festival and can’t wait to welcome you lovely lot back for a final musical hurrah before the museum closes in October.

As usual, sign up from 6.30pm (find Taryn), 3 songs (or equivalent) a piece - two if we’re busy. All moods, styles & abilities are most welcome! Come and share in front of a friendly and supportive audience surrounded by epic steam engines Forncett Industrial Steam Museum

We’ll have hot food available - homegrown squash and smoky bean chilli - and the bar will be open (serving lovely local drinks from Village Green C***r and Oichi Kombucha).

☂️ Shakkalo 🐋 | Singer and Mime is a French-Polish musician and mime coming to us all the way from France. She’s part of Listen Marianne , a collective of singer-songwriters (some of whom will be joining us for the festival).

Q: How would you describe your music?
A: Imagine a bunch of elves singing in a cathedral and writing indie folk/rock music ☂️

Q: Who are your influences?
A: Ben Howard, Aurora and MARO.

Q: Tell us about your gig highlights recently?
A: Seeing MARO and Big Thief! Beautiful suspended moments (that’s the way you’d describe it in French 😅)

Q: Anyone on the Forncett Festival lineup you’re particularly looking forward to seeing?
A: Very excited to see floral image.

Q: Something out of the blue that happened to you this month.
A: I was originally planning to play a solo set. Turns out the fantastic drummer , a friend of some of my Parisian friends, already had a ticket booked to London, but his original plans fell through. He magically ended up being in England during the Forncett Festival and free as a bird. So we got together with him and two other friends, and now I’m extremely lucky to be able to share a full band set with you. 

Q: Owls or frogs?
A: Owls. I wish I had one myself.

Q: Best way to spend a sunny sweaty afternoon?
A: If it’s very warm just in water or very close to any type of water. 

Q: If your band had a philosophy, what would it be?
A: Sing in the rain, and don’t forget your umbrella.

✨ Little Festival Folk ✨

There’s plenty for little ones to discover at Forncett Festival this year. Children come free!

Join us in the mornings for giant community colouring, shaker making, a cosy Bell Tent filled with books and bean bags, and a chance to make your own instrument before joining the Drum Circle at the Lighting of the Boiler ceremony on Saturday.

Our children’s space is being looked after by a wonderful team of volunteers who are passionate about creating a welcoming, creative environment for families.

We’re delighted to have Cecilia from South Norfolk Slings with us, offering sling hire, babywearing support and friendly advice throughout the morning.

And here’s a little introduction from Calley, who’ll be leading our creative activities:

“Hey, Cal here! I’m a creative mum to my adventurous two year old, Ziggy, with a big love for playful learning and festival magic. I believe childhood is best spent creating, exploring, getting messy, and connecting with nature and each other. I can’t wait to build a welcoming space where each child can feel inspired, included, and free to let their imagination lead the way. Come and create, play, and make some festival memories with us!”
