Wootton Parish Council invites tenders for two new playgrounds
We have published a tender inviting suitably qualified and experienced contractors to submit proposals for the design, supply and installation of two new playgrounds within the parish.
The Council is looking to appoint contractors to deliver two exciting new play areas:
Wootton Recreation Ground
The existing playground will be replaced with a new, inclusive and accessible play area designed to provide a wide range of play opportunities for children of different ages and abilities.
The works will include the removal and disposal of the existing equipment, design and installation of the new playground, wetpour safety surfacing and appropriate perimeter fencing.
Estimated value: £100,000 excluding VAT.
Simpson Manor Memorial Ground
The Council is also seeking proposals for a new playground at Simpson Manor Memorial Ground.
The design should be sympathetic to the character of the memorial ground, incorporating inclusive and accessible play opportunities alongside creative and imaginative features. The Council is particularly interested in proposals that incorporate a subtle military or Army-style theme, together with consideration of a horse-themed feature reflecting the history of the site.
Estimated value: £60,000 excluding VAT.
The procurement has been divided into two lots, and contractors are welcome to submit a tender for either one or both lots.
The Council is looking for high-quality and creative proposals which offer excellent play value, inclusive and accessible play opportunities, durability and low whole-life maintenance costs, while responding appropriately to the individual character of each site.
The tender will be evaluated against the following criteria:
Play Value – 35%
Compliance with Specification – 25%
Project Delivery – 15%
Company Experience & References – 15%
Warranty & Aftercare – 10%
The tender was published on Friday 21st August 2026, with submissions required by 12 noon on Friday 2nd October 2026.
