Join us this Saturday for a fantastic afternoon as Great Houghton CC 1st XI take on Old CC 1st XI at the Great Houghton Playing Fields.

Whether you’re a lifelong cricket fan or just fancy a lovely afternoon in the sunshine, everyone is welcome! Bring the family, cheer on the team, and stay afterwards for a delicious BBQ and a drink from the bar. 🍔🍺

🎾 Looking for a new hobby this summer?

If you’ve ever fancied giving tennis a go, now’s the perfect opportunity!

We’re offering a 3-month summer membership (July–September) for just £20 per household. If you live in Great Houghton or one of the neighbouring villages and aren’t already a member, we’d love to welcome you to the club.

Our village is fortunate to have its own tennis court, which is available for both villagers and non-villagers to enjoy. There’s also the opportunity to play pickle tennis – details can be found on the noticeboard at the Village Hall.

🎾 Interested in improving your game?
We also have a local tennis coach, Mark Blincow, who offers lessons for players of all ages and abilities. You can contact Mark on 07803 208638.

🧘‍♀️ NEW! Wellness Tai Chi is coming to Great Houghton! 🌿

Looking for a gentle way to improve your fitness, balance and wellbeing?

Join us for a 5-week Wellness Tai Chi course at Great Houghton Village Hall & Playing Field.

📅 Every Thursday
🕙 10:00–11:00am
📍 2nd – 30th July
💷 £5 per class

Tai Chi is suitable for all abilities and is a wonderful way to:
✨ Improve balance
✨ Build leg strength
✨ Relax and de-stress
✨ Improve breathing
✨ Boost coordination

Sessions will be held outdoors on the grass when the weather is kind, making the most of our lovely village surroundings. 🌳

You don’t have to commit to all five weeks—drop-in sessions are welcome, so come along whenever you can!

This course is supported by the Great Houghton Wellbeing Campaign, helping to bring more opportunities for health and connection into our community.

👒🏇 A touch of Royal Ascot came to Great Houghton!

Great Houghton WI once again hosted their ever-popular Royal Ascot Ladies’ Day Afternoon Tea, welcoming members from neighbouring WI groups to enjoy an afternoon of elegance, friendship and fun.

The Village Hall was beautifully dressed for the occasion, with the races shown live on screen while guests tucked into a delicious afternoon tea of freshly made sandwiches, homemade cakes and warm scones.

Everyone embraced the spirit of the day, arriving in their finest outfits and fabulous hats. A Best Hat competition and a fun lucky dip to pick race winners added to the excitement, making it a wonderful afternoon enjoyed by all.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped organise, bake, decorate and take part in another fantastic community event!
