An 'impossible community' focused on sustainability, the arts and creativity, to address climate and social justice through local cooperation
The aim of UFO is to develop community co-operation and promote sustainable living for all people within Northampton, particularly those living around the Racecourse. The organisation currently has a number of social enterprises which support our aims (Bic
ycle Recycle, Cafe, Hall & Marquee hire), and we are developing the Racecourse Pavilion into an inclusive community Hub. We run a number of events on the Racecourse throughout the year including 'Tea on the Lawn' and our 'Fabulous Flea Market'. Our main event is a summer community, music and arts festival. The festival is designed to attract the widest spectrum of Northampton's community; To see, hear and share in each others cultures. We promote an opportunity to learn, respect and understand each other so that barriers are broken down between different communities. Also, the festival provides information about environmental and ethical issues and how we can help combat these on a personal, community and global scale
We are currently running a project which helps those most disadvantaged in our community to regain their confidence and build skills in a friendly family environment. We are hoping to continue this or similar projects on in to the future so watch this space! The Northampton Community is at the heart of everything we do.
