Musically Unorthodox The Creative Social Hub for young people

We're looking for 10 aspiring creatives from Northamptonshire to join the first 16-week Residency Talent Development Programme.

MU Residency has been created to help emerging creatives develop their talent while building the knowledge, confidence, portfolio, networks and industry connections needed to take their next step.

Funded by: Youth Music

The journey is built around six stages:

1. DISCOVER
2. DEVELOP
3. CREATE
4. CONNECT
4. SHOWCASE
7. LAUNCH

Residents will work with experienced mentors, create original work, take part in workshops and masterclasses, access industry experiences and develop a clear pathway towards their next opportunity.

You can apply if you are:

✓ Aged 16–25
✓ An aspiring creative professional
✓ Not currently in education, employment or training
✓ Registered at a Northamptonshire address
✓ Able to commit to the required in-person sessions

You don't need to have everything figured out. We're looking for potential, passion and commitment, not the finished product.

🎶 One week ago, we wrapped Year 2 of the Musically Unorthodox Summit!

Bringing together educators, industry professionals, and young people, the day was focused on tackling some of society’s most pressing challenges, from the aspirations of marginalised youth to improving access to meaningful, relevant pathways.

Since then, we’ve been taking time to reflect and fully digest the depth of conversations, insights, and ideas shared by both our speakers and the audience.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be rolling out key moments and takeaways through videos, posts, articles, and more, all with a clear intention: to begin turning these conversations into real, actionable change.

Our goal is simple….! implement what’s possible now, and return next year with tangible progress and facilitate further conversations for development.

We’re excited to continue building with those aligned on this mission, and deeply appreciate the knowledge and perspectives shared by our incredible speakers 👇

Tomorrow we bring together artists, educators, youth organisations and industry professionals for a full day focused on one thing… creating real pathways into music and creative careers.

Built around three key themes:
Reach. Routes. Reality. The day focuses on how we connect young people to opportunities, guide their next steps and turn creativity into sustainable careers.

If you’re a young person interested in music or creativity or someone supporting young people, this is where the conversations happen.
