JUNGLE JAMBOREE
Another piece I created after a long time! I needed something to get back into collaging, so I had a quick flick through Clover Robin’s Cut Paper Pictures book, found myself a style and some shapes that I liked and got to work snipping. I still have a huge stash of hand coloured papers, so it felt ok.
I like the result- do you?
The next decision to be made today is whether I should sign up for the next Northants Open Studios Central Exhibition in September?! This year it’s not so clean cut with my decision- I often spend my spare time creating lots to choose a piece for this event, however, I always come away feeling totally disappointed due to not selling my work- it’s not overpriced at all, compared to some 🫣. This is just my experience; others I’m sure have a great run and that event must be really tricky to organise. They do a great job. Soooo, who knows! Watch this space!
Anyway, the sun is out and I need to exercise!

OVER THE MOON 🌕🌙
I sure am with this one!
It’s taken me a long time to create new work hasn’t it?! Funnily, this one I knocked up in an evening as a demo piece for the Year 5 children at my school! It actually came out really well and I love it!
Made with my hand coloured papers and just me and my scissors of many sizes, it’s simple yet so effective and easy for kids to replicate.
I’ve done another since then, so maybe this is the start of a creative period?! Who knows?! What I do know is that if I have time I’ll do another and if not, I won’t! 🫣😂✌🏻

🎄FAMILY WORKSHOP🎄
Come and join me on Sunday 17th November, to create a wonderful hanging Christmas wreath at my family Christmas workshop.
Use my materials and hand coloured paper to snip out mistletoe, berries and little extras then choose a lovely thick ribbon to hang it up with. Create for yourself or as a gift for someone you know.

Cost: £25 (adult+child) £5 per extra person in group attending.

⭐️SOLD ⭐️
Last week I sold two of my artworks to a fan of my work. Huh?! A fan?!! Yes an actual fan! A lovely lady who took time to contact me to arrange a viewing of my work at my home. Can you imagine how wonderful this was???!!
Originally, she was after one piece (Joy), but when she saw ‘Mood Over Shutlanger’ she straight away bought this one too! I’m so happy- I spent hours snipping each individual grass strand out with scissors!!
This is a reminder that when you interact with an artist/small business in whatever way, you really are making their day! It could be from a sale, an enquiry, a comment, a like, a repost or a ticket for one of their workshops. It all makes a difference! 😁

GOOD DAY SUNSHINE ☀️☀️
Sunshine is peeping through my window as I type! My kids are downstairs creating some kind of something. We’re hearing banging and high pitched squeals of excitement…I’m not sure it’ll be a 7am cake this time, but I’m sure it’ll be a nice surprise 😂
Head to this weekend to spot my work at Central Exhibition. I have two pieces and this little ‘Mini Masterpiece’ beauty.
I love the colours, the design and the timeless slogan.

JOY & DELIGHT 🌼
A lovely evening viewing the new Northants and Rutland Open Studios summer exhibition at .
Check out my work, both proudly sitting in the main barn! I was so chuffed!
Anyway, lots of great work for people to check out. Lots of work also at fairly reasonable prices too if you’re looking for a new piece for your home.
Head on down and have a look. It’s open throughout the whole of September and there are loads of branch out mini exhibitions happening around the county too.

HOUSES 🏠
Last week saw me return to ! We collaged a city scape, using all of the recycled and painted papers I have in my box of tricks! Totally inspired by the amazing ideas of . A fantastic site with a huge range of ideas for inspiration!
It’s always lovely working with the families from there. The workshops are free and they have sooooo much to offer for those in need. A charity doing some really great things in our town!
As always, show the kids some love- comment and like. Their work really was great!
Ps- Northants and Rutland Open Studios launch the Lamport Hall central exhibition tonight. All welcome from 4pm. If you want to see my pieces in the flesh or maybe own a Snips and Pieces original, my work is there until the end of September!

DELIGHT
My second piece of new collage ready to be framed and exhibited at Northants and Rutland Open Studios this September at Lamport Hall .

I’m not gonna lie, creating just two new pieces of work has taken me a lonnnggg time this year. I have been so busy life-ing, but what have created, I really like!
Be sure to pop down to Lamport Hall if you’re local and check out loads of great work by hundreds of local artists. You can even grab yourself a piece to take home (including mine! 🤪).
For now, I have another workshop to prep for this week and maybe I’ll start a new piece…who knows?! Asides from that, I’ll enjoy every damn day in this summer holiday with my three babies, making fun memories to last a lifetime!

ART DAY PT 1 🎨
Last week I organised a fantastic whole school art day!
In Reception we looked at the work of Paul Klee and linked this to shape and of course…collage!
Taking inspo from we created these beautiful cityscapes. Just like me, the children prepared the backgrounds and then cut out shapes to arrange and stick onto them. There was absolutely no pencil marks to be seen- if you know me and unless something calls for sketching, I hate obvious pencil marks! 🫣
Some children even created their own junk sculptures, independently attaching and combining boxes and junk together to make houses. We’ve put them into our undercover area to play with now!
Needless to say, everyone was impressed with the outcome and the children were very proud of themselves!
We held an exhibition the following morning to showcase all the work from the school and families were invited! The turnout was phenomenal! Someone even said that they were so emotional viewing it all! Another day is on the cards for sure!
Sometimes subjects and days like these are forgotten- brushed under the carpet to make way for the academic subjects. This day was a reminder to always value the arts and to put it on a pedal stool just like the others. You never know what sort of day someone is having, whether they need a creative outlet to heal- so we need to make it happen!
