St Nicks: ★★★★★ EPIC - Elvis Presley In Concert ★★★★★ - 10th July

On 10th July at 7pm in St Nicks Arts Centre, Swafield we'll screen a performance of Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis Documentary - One of the Most Exciting Concert Films You’ve Ever Seen!

The director found boxes of never-before-seen footage in the archives, assembling it into a dazzling testament to Elvis's late-period greatness.

Variety: “Think back to the greatest concert you ever saw — it could be Springsteen or U2 or the Stones, or Lady Gaga or the Ramones, or Taylor Swift or Radiohead…. Now think back to the greatest moment in that concert, the one that gave you chills you can still feel. That’s the kind of experience I predict you’ll have watching “EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert,” an extraordinary new documentary directed by Baz Luhrmann, the director of “Elvis.”

ChamberMusicBox, the outstanding group of international artists, is coming next Saturday 20th June to St.Botolph’s, Trunch, to play two famous clarinet quintets.

Mozart's Clarinet Quintet in A major, K. 581, is famous not only because of it sublime second movement, The Larghetto, featuring one of the most heavenly melodies Mozart ever composed, - this quintet really revolutionised chamber music. Created in 1789, it was the first major work to successfully marry the warm, vocal timbre of a clarinet with a string quartet. it was written during a difficult period in Mozart's life, but the music remains deeply uplifting, balancing lush lyricism with playful, rhythmic variations in the finale.

Brahms Clarinet Quintet in B minor, Op. 115 (1891) is a masterpiece of autumn beauty and bittersweet resignation. Its magic lies in the seamless blending of the clarinet's rich, woody warmth with the string quartet, creating a deeply introspective, nostalgic, and conversation-like masterpiece. The quintet captures a profound sense of twilight and quiet reflection, that is intensely moving. The second movement Adagio is famous for its haunting, serene outer sections flanking an impassioned, florid "Hungarian" middle section that pushes the clarinet to its expressive limits.

Tickets are £16 adults, £8 under 16
