North Thoresby Community Events Association awarded £8,000 and £1000 grants to enhance Local Heritage and Community Resources
The North Thoresby Community Events Association (NTCEA) is delighted to announce that we have been awarded a grant of £8,000 from East Lindsey District Council and the ELIF GRASSroots Grant Scheme from the Lincolnshire Community Foundation. This funding will support a series of exciting initiatives designed to celebrate the village’s heritage, strengthen community engagement, and improve access to local history resources.
The grant will enable the NTCEA to develop a new community website, providing residents and visitors with a central hub for local news, events and contact information. This digital platform aims to enhance communication within the village and local area and showcase North Thoresby’s unique identity to a wider audience.
In addition, funding will be used to construct and locate a range of ‘interpretation boards’ throughout the village near to some of our historic buildings. These will highlight key aspects of North Thoresby’s rich history, creating an engaging and educational experience for both residents and visitors.
A portion of the ELIF grant will also be allocated to upgrading and expanding the Village Archive Centre. Improvements will include an additional room and display facilities, ensuring the preservation of important historical materials while making them more accessible to the public.
We have also been awarded a grant of £1000 from Councillor Terry Aldridge's ELDC Councillor's Community Grants Scheme. This has financed the purchase of equipment required for our Oral History Project and will fund an ‘Art and Heritage’ project which will see works by the North Thoresby Art Group (and others) and heritage photographs, maps and posters displayed in our public spaces.
We are incredibly grateful to Councillor Aldridge, ELDC and the ELIF GRASSroots Grant Scheme for this generous support. This funding will allow us to preserve and celebrate North Thoresby’s heritage in new and engaging ways, while also bringing our community closer together. These projects will have a lasting impact for residents of all ages. The initiatives will be delivered over the coming months, with opportunities for local volunteers and community members to get involved.
