I have been working with Class 2 at North Tawton Community Primary School, they have been studying anglo-saxon history; we have been making miniature leather shields. The children have done the embossing, colouring and polishing themselves!! I am now finishing the stitching and adding leather straps to the rear of the shields.

This is a lovely bag, the grain of the leather was full of dried wax and polish, after restoring it, the difference is quite striking, I have also started removing the old stitching and begun re-sewing it with a lovely contrasting waxed linen thread. Due to the thickness of the leather, I am using pliers to pull the needles through!
