Lots of great music to enjoy on the day.

We love to hear singing at the Festival. From the lovely young voices of Cullercoats Primary School to a double helping of hearty shanties to a replay of more than 15 Choirs Together, there’s much to enjoy, much of it in the Cullercoats Crescent Club

12.30 | Mouths of the Tyne Community Choir are always a treat to listen to | Cullercoats Crescent Club Buffet Room

3 pm | Watch House Shanty Crew, local and global shanty and regional songs | Cullercoats Crescent Club Concert Room

3.30 pm | Mariners and Marras, shanty and sea songs | Cullercoats Crescent Club Concert Room

And our Poet-in-Residence Harry Gallagher has celebrated them in verse:

🎤🎼Sing

We sing as an imperative,
we do because we must.
With music we are nightingales,
without it we are rust.

Like the faces of flowers
incline towards the sun,
so we are all an inch taller
with music’s constant hum.

And when indeed we find a voice,
one that rings in our own head,
the heart inside beats afresh,
the soul around it newly fed.

When asked, “Why do you sing?”
Answer, “Doesn’t everything?”

Harry Gallagher

Looking forward to this 😀 Always a great day at Cullercoats Festival

Looking forward to this 😀

Always a great day at Cullercoats Festival

We are really pleased to again welcome the Mouths of the Tyne Community Choir to sing at our Festival.

Mouths of the Tyne are a friendly and welcoming community choir, based in North Shields. They sing wide range of songs acapella – from contemporary to classical, from Elgar to Elbow – so there is something for everyone!

They tell me: "The choir perform at events and festivals all over the local area and we’re delighted to be singing again at this year’s Cullercoats Festival."

Mouths of the Tyne will be appearing at 12.30 on 13th June 2026 in the Crescent Club Buffet Room.
