These are the little bunches of (mostly) wildflowers from my garden which decorated the Cullercoats Watch House for Ebb&Flow Sideways on Saturday. Great line up of local poets and lovely audience had a great time and raised nearly £500 for the Watch House and the Save Side campaign https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/saveside

Ebb&Flow Sideways, a poetry showcase in support of the Watch House and the Side Gallery will be happening at the Watch House on May 20th 7pm.
On 9th April 2023, Side Gallery closed to the public due to critical funding cuts and the ‘cost of living crisis’. They are working towards towards re-opening in September 2024 but they can’t do it without support. You can help !
The Watch House is a landmark, well-loved building which overlooks Cullercoats Bay and has launched a Restoration Appeal for vital repairs.
Ebb &Flow Sideways brings these two great causes together. The Watch House in May will be the perfect venue for a brilliant line-up of local poets, including: Kate Fox, Harry Gallagher, Bernie McAloon, Kris Johnson, John Challis and Eileen Jones. There will be refreshments and some surprises.
Proceeds will support both the Side and The Watch House.

Final total funds raised for the Watch House Restoration from the HERitage weekend was just a smidge over £1,400. And we had a great time!
Huge thanks for everyone's generosity and for all the performers, helpers and workshop leaders who gave their time and skills for free.

The HERitage event was a great success. Fantastic to celebrate women's creativity in the Cullercoats Watch House. Nearly 200 people took part across the weekend, all the events were sold out and around £1,300 was raised for the Watch House Restoration Appeal.
I want to thank everyone who helped, led, performed, gave time and energy. There was so much to celebrate- generosity, warmth, sharing laughter and tears.
Special thanks go to Mary Dobbing, Annie Latham, Charlotte Willoughby, Mel Eaton, Bridget Gallagher, Penny Payne, Mick English, Frank Taylor, Sue Cliffe, not forgetting Viv Stapley for her mercy dash to the Co-op for more wine on Saturday night!

Sunday night was the grand finale of the Ebb and Flow Cullercoats HERitage weekend. Local artist Penelope Payne gave a very moving account of the creative process which culminated in 61 of us walking down to the Cullercoats shore at sunrise clad in banners modelled on the skirts worn traditionally by fisherwomen. The 'Horizons' film was shown to a sold-out audience. It was a beautiful experience. The film can be viewed on Penny's website at https://www.penelopepayne.co.uk/horizons-performance
