Susan Hopkin

Artist

Susan is a mixed media artist living in East Lothian.

Using a mixture of pastels, charcoal, graphite and acrylic paint, her abstract seascapes seek to capture the drama, energy and movement of the local coastline.

Exhibiting widely throughout East lothian, her work is rich and sumptuous, holding your gaze.

Painter

Alain is a Scottish painter based in Gullane, working primarily in oils en plein air.

His work is inspired by the ever-changing light and atmosphere of the Scottish landscape, capturing moments directly from nature with an emphasis on mood, colour, and immediacy.

Piloting a microlight and aerial photography allow me to see the landscape very differently.

Viewed from above, the land becomes abstracted, distilled into shapes, colour and form, thousands of feet below me.

Vistas are extended across entire counties, creating a unique perspective from which I draw inspiration.

Colour and mark making form the backbone of my painting practice. "

Carefully balanced colours, vibrant and dynamic, with rough and smooth textures to pronounce the materials and movement.

Her new work is even more striking and evocative.

Janet has just had a series of her work selected by Fortnum & Mason to feature on their shortbread tins – a brilliant recognition of her talent and creativity to be showcased by this iconic brand.
