What a great morning in Bangor Bryansburn Care Home to celebrate with all the participants, at their film launch. The launch was part of c21's Our Stories, Scene and Heard project generously funded by The National Lottery Community Fund Northern Ireland

The project continues to empower older people and those who care for them, through the sharing of their experiences, stories and viewpoints, using creative reminiscence techniques.

Congratulations everyone and thanks to Sophie (Activities Coordinator) and Natasha (c21 Facilitator) for working so brilliantly with the residents. 🥳😊😄🥳🤩🤩

The Northern Ireland Sign Language Bill has received Royal Assent! This recognises both British and Irish Sign Language in Northern Irish Law.

The Bill represents Northern Ireland's commitment to preserve BSL and ISL. In addition, The Department for Communities has committed to provide free BSL and ISL classes for deaf people under 25 years of age, a transformational step for the deaf community.

The Bill represents real progress towards inclusion of the deaf community in Northern Ireland.

Three major works, created by some of Northern Ireland’s leading theatre, dance and arts organisations, will take part in the industry development and networking event Spotlight on Theatre and Dance from Northern Ireland at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe on 18 August 2026.

The event is delivered by Theatre and Dance NI, in collaboration with Belfast International Arts Festival and supported by British Council Northern Ireland and The through the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.

Edinburgh Festival Fringe is the biggest arts marketplace in the world. Taking part in the Spotlight event is an unparalleled opportunity for these NI-based artists to connect with the international arts industry, with a view to having their work toured nationally and internationally.

c21 CELEBRATE CREATIVE PORTAFERRY IN THE CO. DOWN VILLAGE

On Sunday 28th June 2026 we all came together in the wonderful The Portico of Ards to celebrate our 12-week programme with the participants. Funded by Arts Council of Northern Ireland , the Rural Engagement Arts Programme (REAP) brought together individual communities in Portaferry and the Ards Penninsula, through a series of weekly sessions that included reminiscence, creative writing, theatre, storytelling visual art, mindfulness and songwriting workshops, between April and June 2026.
Community creative writing, songwriting and singing workshops were facilitated by Sound Designer Keith Acheson to encourage the development of new songs attached to the surrounding area. Field recordings and drone footage were also collected to create sound designs to help visualize and underscore participant’s work. Faith Dawson and Stephen Kelly overseen the devised performances, poetry, prose and song.

Creative Portaferry is the culmination of a 12-week community arts project produced by c21 Theatre Company in partnership with Portaferry Recreation Hub, Portaferry, and local residents.

Since April 2026, participants have engaged in creative workshops exploring their personal connections to Portaferry, to produce a collection of poetry, prose and song.

Come join us to enjoy the fruits of their efforts, and to get a glimpse of Portaferry through a different lens.

The event will be free of charge. All are welcome.
