Oh my goodness. It definitely feels like the hottest day ever here in Devon. I managed an early morning walk but there’ll be no afternoon or evening evening walk for our Honeybun.

We’ve got the fan going and kept the curtains and doors closed and it’s bearable. It would have been a lovely idea to go to the beach together but we couldn’t leave Honey unsupervised today.

Today’s doodle is one from last year when we obviously went through a similar heatwave.

Another couple of days of this and we’re out the other end. Phew 😰 🫠

I really loved meeting Catherine Clawson at UK 🐕 last weekend. She was there to talk about her book Buddy and Tilda. The book teaches young children (and adults!) to safely interact with our furbabies so they can have a positive relationship with them. Sadly in her role as an NHS manager, she’s seen too many instances where there has been a communication breakdown between a dog and their little humans resulting in a hospital visit. It inspired her to write this book.

The character Buddy is based on the real Buddy the Bull Lurcher, a lovable bouncy boy. I really enjoyed meeting him too!

Phew, it has been such a busy week that I crashed on Monday and finally managed to get my act together today to give you Day 2 of Woofstock UK 2026!

It was a brilliant day on the Pawcasso stand this Sunday. The amount of yearly returns are increasing and the artwork is becoming more and more creative too!

At the end of the day, however, the most important thing is to have a bit of fun with your best friend. Our small Pawcasso team is committed to ensuring you and your pets are supported in this.

A big shout out to Maddy and Angie who helped me create order in the chaos. Maddy is a seasoned pro (sometimes I even think I am helping her!) and it was Angie’s first year but she took to it like a duck to water, or should I say a dog to treats??!

A big thanks to the boss H and above all the real boss Carol for keeping all the wheels turning behind the scenes!

We hope to see you all again at Woofstock 2027.

Let us know if you see your dog so I can tag you!

(can you spot your masterpiece? Big cuddles from doodle annie!)

What a lovely day! Woofstock Uk was warm today but such a lovely day! I was hosting the Pawcasso tent again this year and we had a constant stream of pawsome budding artists - big and small pooches with their maxi and mini humans were creating veritable masterpieces! Here’s a small selection.

(If you are around tomorrow, come and see us. £5 a canvas with all proceeds going to charity!)

Lovely to see you and

And here it is - my brand new designs in time for Woofstock Uk! An amazing festival at Powderham Castle this weekend. If you love all things dog and music, then this is definitely the right place for you.

If you’re there, come and visit me at the Pawcasso tent for some fun painting with your dog. 🐶

I will also bring some of my doodle products, including these brand new Woofstock inspired mugs. It’s a doggy dog world after all. We just live in it.

If you can’t make the festival but you would like a copy, then please go to my online shop www.doodleannie.com.

What a wonderful chat about creating inner peace through the power of doodling (and other things) with the lovely Gayner on her Making Monday’s Matter radio show on Torbay Radio.

Always such a pleasure! Gayner is such a warm and wise person and it’s always great to share with likeminded people.

‘ALWAYS GIFTED’ - remembering my father.

I first shared this doodle story a month after we suddenly lost our father, Oebele de Boer, four years ago today. It tells a story that says something about his generosity of spirit.

For a number of years, my father filled his cupboards with homemade jars, full to the brim with pickled courgettes. He didn’t even like to eat them himself, but as soon as the first courgettes of the season would be ready to be harvested, he was in the kitchen cutting courgettes and onions until late in the evening to get them ready to be pickled.

Whenever we would visit him he would proudly open his cupboard and display how many jars he had made! The joy it would give us all watching him be so joyful about it was priceless. He would also generously give a jar to anyone who wanted one. Family, friends and neighbours.

This loving act was also the thing that later brought him more love in the shape of his girlfriend, Anne, who became his companion after my mother died. Amongst other things, they shared this love of growing and then pickling these courgettes.

At the funeral, many people came up to us to tell us they were the grateful recipients of these little jars of green gold. Afterwards, when we went to see the solicitor, she mentioned unprovoked that her best friend, who lived close to my father, used to receive a few jars from him.

Every jar was gifted, without him ever needing anything in return for it. It just gave him joy and pride in a job well done and he revelled in the appreciation and conversation.

These little jars were more than just a jar of pickled courgettes. They were filled with love and generosity and created an opportunity for connection.

‘Going on a short break’

We’ve been looking forward to going away for a few days and it looks like the weather is kind to us too! We won’t be going too far but far enough to feel like we’re on a proper break. Honey has packed her bag with the all important treats (!) and a few toys too. We’ll be doing all our favourite things, from walking and reading to talking and eating! Oh, and we may have a few drinks as it’s Annie’s big 60 on Thursday! Plenty to celebrate.

See you on the other side!
