It's all about the Calico cats lately! This is the early beginnings of Dotty, a gorgeous cat who loves nothing more that sunning herself amongst the Wisteria.

I'm getting the background in first before I start work on Dotty herself, and I'm loving the fabulous array of colours I'm getting to use. 😊

Painting "Solace". I love creating dreamy scenes like this. This one is inspired by those gorgeous calm days we've had in Cornwall this summer, sat on the rocks gazing into the water and feeling a deep sense of peace.

I can't believe this was almost a year ago! Such a surreal moment walking down The Mall in London to the exhibition and spotting my lion drawing on the entry banner to the gallery!

The 2026 exhibition is coming up soon which I'm sure will be incredible. I didn't enter it this year, being too focused on building my collection of seascape paintings (maybe next year, I'll try combine seascapes and wildlife and enter something! 🤔)

Anyway, back to Mr Lion (official name "Warrior) - although the original drawing sold in the exhibition, but you can still get one of my limited edition giclee prints in my online shop. (Link in my bio.)

My finished drawings of cats Diana, Nancy and Louise.

All three portraits were commissioned by my client over in US. Diana, Nancy and Louise had been very dear companions to him over the years, and being sadly no longer here, he wanted something very special to remember them by.

He was keen to have the portraits all displayed on the same wall, so we worked together to make sure they work as a cohesive collection, carefully matching the colours and poses to complement each other.

I'm pleased to say he's absolutely thrilled with each of them. ☺

You may remember the trio of cat portraits I was working on last month for a client over in the US. This beauty is Diana and she's the third cat to complete the trio.

She had the most beautiful markings and this semi-profile angle of her gazing up was just so sweet, my client and I knew it would make a fabulous portrait of her.

Today is the start of the Poly Members Show - a fabulous art exhibition at the Poly in Falmouth ( Poly Falmouth ) . Three of my seascape paintings are on display along with a variety of work from local artists in Cornwall.

I'll be here all afternoon and for the Preview this evening (5pm - 7pm) - do come and say hi!

This is Alan the Bulldog. His portrait was commissioned along with Winston the Frenchie (see my last post) and was gifted a couple of weeks ago as a surprise 30th birthday present.

Alan is a much loved companion, who despite his slightly grumpy demeanour at times, always manages to endear himself!

I'll share up the finished portraits of both Alan and Winston later this week.

This is the first of a pair of portraits I was secretly working on last month. My neighbour Christine commissioned them for her grandson's 30th birthday.

This cute little chappy is Winston, a very sweet and lovable Frenchie who sadly passed away from illness at only 2 years old. He's hugely missed and Christine knew a portrait of him would be something really special her Grandson could remember him by. 💙
