For me, like many people who make stuff from clay it's all about the transformation of the materials used. It's definitely science but sometimes there's a whiff of magic about it...anyone who's had a special surfboard from a master shaper or amazing food from a dab hand in the kitchen will probably relate to this.
However, a lot of this starts with a bit of knowledge and is pushed along by going for it and seeing what sticks.
Here's the first round of a new family of granite glazes. All of the ingedients are hand collected in the local area.

I've always enjoyed riding hulls, boards from suberb craftsmen like .... these boards go great when the conditions are spot on but can be funny when the waves are funky. They're also not booards. If ya don't know what yer watching more than likely you're just gonna see someone going really fast down the line. .....
But never fear 'cause master shaper Steve Darch (he also rips and is a total gentleman) has made me a few softened versions that handle a greater variety of surf but still retain that surfing on ball bearings feel and the grip and drive ..... here's the latest one, not sure on the dimensions bit it doesn't matter, she'll be just fine!
Got a film project coming up with so hopefully we'll get some action on the new ride!
Can't recommend Darchy enough... HP shortboards, step ups, alternatives and modern versions of those timeless designs.....give him a call.

Last couple of years been having a lot of fun learning new stuff in the water. and .. it's all good on the right day!
As advised learning to ride a surf mat isn't easy but if you persevere they are really, really good fun... I've definitely stopped laughing at 'em and started to appreciate what they can do.
Big game changer for me has been a custom mat from this thing f**ken shifts. Give Matt a call if you're looking for a new .
Equally some from have made life much easier and helped me understand the mat. Getting through surf, catching waves and riding they're the bomb!
The & skates are rad too 🤣👍🏽

Back in the day! My wife surprised me with a Maldives trip for my birthday early 2000s.
Lohifushi pumped from 2 to 6 ft every day and we scored pumping Sultans and Jails too. I had a couple of great stock boards one of which I buckled on the biggest day at Sultans. Good times.
When I got back home to Lanzarote the guy from the perrera told me that our vizsla, Gally ; no paró de aullar por dos semanas....... a nadie le gusta perderse un buen surf trip....
