I’d like to share this watercolour piece from my Hong Kong Bird Series, painted in 2018 depicting a Red-billed Blue Magpie — a bird commonly found in woodland, rural, suburban, and even urban areas in Hong Kong. With its beautiful long tail, bright red beak, and vibrant colours, it is one of Hong Kong’s most striking and easily spotted birds. Surprisingly, despite their very different appearance, they are actually related to the magpies we commonly see here in the UK, as both belong to the crow and magpie family known as the corvids, sharing similar intelligent, loud, noisy, and chatty behaviour. 🎨🐦✨
