It's warm in Baneswell this evening. The rain came and the park got washed, again. There's a hum of activity in the garden. The fennel is taking over, the ivy is fighting back. This morning we walked the streets and back alleys. There is beauty if you look, between the cracks, through the broken fences, nature reminds us that it's waiting to claim it all back. A man spoke to us in a cafe, shared his story, recommended we talk to someone else. He talked about the Ying and the Yang. we talked about the good and the bad, the light and the dark, the chaos and the order that is in all places. Looking at our streets, our spaces gives us new eyes, new stories to share. We started making, everyone was present... we are the artists and this place is a canvas, a richly decorated canvas. I've lived here 10 years... we're celebrating that and more.

It's a cloudy start in Baneswell this morning. There were fireworks at 5.15am that have sent the local social media groups into a fury. There were loud gun shot sounding blasts that anonymous users vociferously blame on people with drug issues. The bins were collected before 9am the clatter accompanying the toil of those who deal with our rubbish. I picked up litter in the park on Sunday before a guy from the council arrived in an electrical vehicle to do the very same job. We did it together. I walked to M&S to buy vegan mayonnaise before it closes permanently on Saturday. The rosemary in the front grows out on to the pavement. Sometimes people stop and take a bit... I'm glad it will be used. It's great with potato's. Raspberry bushes in the garden are bowed with the weight of their yellow fruit. They taste best with coconut cream and coco powder. There's a beep from a reversing vehicle, an occasional burst of seagulls chatter and there's some work to do. I've lived here for ten years. It's the longest I have lived in one place. We're celebrating that... if you were interested. There's some info in the comments....

Urban Echoes is a new project in collaboration with Cargo-Theater. This week we are in Freiburg exploring the neighbourhood of Haslach and the stories and songs that could accompany a guided tour in July. This evening we are running a song writing workshop in the library in Haslach. Nature and creativity are in full bloom.

This project is funded by Cultural Bridge, which celebrates bilateral artistic partnerships between the UK and Germany through the collaboration between Arts Council England, the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, British Council, Creative Scotland, Fonds Soziokultur, Goethe-Institut London and Wales Arts International / Arts Council of Wales.
