In the meantime, a new run of CDs has been produced, a deluxe version with a 16-page full colour lyrics booklet and a downloadable pdf of composer’s notes, explaining about the songs and what inspired them. You may have seen this leaflet dotted around Newhaven town. If you’re interested in buying a cd, there's a link to it above. The Newhaven Musical: 900 Years - A Journey Through Time...
It's hard to believe it was just over 6 years ago, on 9th November 2019, we had our live showcase at St Michael's Church. A large crowd of Newhaven people braved the awful, rainy weather that afternoon to watch and listen to Mike as he explained what was going on with each of the songs. The presentation included Liza Stevens' beautiful illustrations, which still adorn our Facebook and Instagram pages, and Mike and a few friends played three of the songs live. At the time, we were hopeful that the musical would have its live premiere sometime during 2020 but, the awful COVID-19 put paid to that. Since then, Mike has been working on a number of other projects. Now, though, thoughts have returned to getting this musical up and running again. We'd love to be able to put it on sometime next year (2026), in the town. Many a thought is being spent considering how we might fund it, so please watch this space. In the meantime, here are a few pictures of the showcase. It really was a special afternoon.

200th Anniversary of the RNLI. One of the songs in the 900 Years / Newhaven Musical project is a tribute to the heroes of the Newhaven Lifeboat, and the RNLI in general, but written with thoughts for their loved ones waiting for them to return safely home after a shout. It’s that time of year again. Disneytivity 3 😁🎄

So excited rehearsals have started for our Crib Service with puppets on Sunday (Christmas Eve) 3pm at St Michael’s featuring Disney songs. Save the date! Particularly suitable for families with infant and primary school age children - and anyone who loves Disney of course!

The Newhaven Musical !
"Hello everyone, I’m Mike. In 2019, the Arts Council funded me to write the music and lyrics for the twelve songs on my album project “900 Years - a journey through time”. It was in celebration of the 9 centuries that St Michael’s church, the oldest building in town, has watched over Newhaven from up on the hill. The songs on the album are based on moments in time from Newhaven's history and it’s always been my intention to put on a live show based on those songs. Effectively, they are the Newhaven Musical. Here are some of the characters and events that have already been included, and I’m hoping to add some more songs in as the project progresses. So please keep your eyes peeled for more information over the coming months. Oh and by the way, the fabulous illustrations you’re about to see were done by the brilliantly talented Liza Stevens - Illustrator & Maker .
