Endless Window is on indefinite hiatus with immediate effect. Refunds will be issued for the affected shows – the Warrington-Runcorn New Town Development Plan show promoted by Wandering Oak will be unaffected.

The last twelve months have seen a dramatic fall in attendance and advance sales for almost all of our events (in this time, only one has broken even) and despite best efforts the situation has continued to deteriorate. I am now in a position where I cannot promote or host shows at the standard that is desired or required, and as such it would be irresponsible to proceed any further and cause more disappointment.

I am hugely grateful to everyone who has played, worked or attended an Endless Window event in the last decade. I have tried to keep a flag flying for the strange, the surprising and the hard to categorise in the Newcastle music scene (you can be the judge of how successful it was or wasn’t.) I’m aware what I’ve promoted hasn’t always been the easiest sell, but seeing people willing to take the plunge on ideas or sounds they hadn’t encountered before was always the greatest joy in doing this.

I would like to say a particular thank you to everyone at The Cumberland Arms, who have all been consistently supportive and helpful and have made it a venue I’ve been proud to call home. Even if I’m not running nights there now, I’m sure I’ll be popping up at one of Newcastle’s crown jewels here and there.

It feels increasingly difficult to run safe and accountable events amidst a culture of silence and omerta. I will always want to encourage artists, venues and promoters to take risks and proceed with open minds, but I would also urge people to consider who and where they work with, and how they align with the values they would want to uphold. Music and art should not just be for a selected in crowd.

Right now, it feels sad and frustrating, but I know the great memories, wonderful people and incredible artistry I have been lucky to be involved with as Endless Window will outlive those emotions. To anyone out there who’s thinking about taking up the baton, I can’t wait to see what you might have in store for us.

ICYMI: we announced two new shows this week! A mixture of friends old and new for two nights of summertime fun at that mansion on the hill, The Cumberland Arms, on Friday 27th June and Saturday 12th July.

To try and balance our budget but also keep it accessible, we’re charging £10 advance for these, but with limited discounted tickets also available at £5 for people feeling the squeeze - no questions asked. It’s a tricky time for everyone, including everyone in this game - artists, promoters, venues, and so on. We’re open to ideas about how to keep the wheels on the track!
