Creating this series was pretty cathartic…
Each piece involved countless tiny components — sanding, prepping, priming — before I could begin adding color and fitting it all back together. There’s a rhythm to the madness…a kind of meditative flow. Wax on, wax off.
When I’m in that creative space, the outside world fades. I lose myself in the process — that’s what it’s really about for me.
That’s also why I rarely take process photos. It feels a bit like breaking the fourth wall — like when an actor looks straight into the camera and the illusion slips. But I did manage to snap a few this time.
The shapes in this piece were inspired by classic camouflage patterns, but I wanted them to also feel more fluid — like ripples dancing across the surface of a swimming pool.
This one might be my favourite in the series.
