‘Persistence’ 2026

Once numbering in the tens of millions, the bison was pushed to the edge of disappearance. Yet it endured.

That history is what drew me to this subject. I wanted Persistence to feel like more than a portrait of an animal; carrying the weight of what came before it, and the strength that allowed it to remain.

Built through layers of paint, movement and texture, the piece became a study of survival, pressure and endurance. There is something powerful in the fact that despite everything, it is still here.

I’m so excited to finally share this - I’m honestly struggling to find the words!

To have been chosen as one of just 165 exhibitors from over 1,500 applicants to take part in Wildlife Artist of the Year was already a huge achievement and a real tick off my arty bucket list ✅

So to then find out that my work had gone on to receive one of just 16 awards overall was completely surreal. I’m incredibly proud, but more than anything, just incredibly grateful to have been given this opportunity.

A huge thank you to Michael Benson, an incredible artist, filmmaker & writer - for choosing my work as your Luminary’s Choice. It genuinely means so much to me 🙌🏻

And somehow, the excitement didn’t stop there… I was also lucky enough to have my painting listed as Georgina Lamb, CEO and granddaughter of David Shepherd’s favourite piece in the catalogue.

To find myself on the first artists page of the catalogue right next to the talented winner of WAY26 is something I’m going to be pinching myself about for a while 🙏🏻

Regardless of the wins, just to see my work hung in the same exhibition as truly the best wildlife artists in the world, is no small feat.

Thank you to everyone who has supported my work and encouraged me to keep pushing it forward. Moments like this make all those hours in the studio feel very worth it. I love this job 🤍

Not your traditional zebra. 🦓

I wanted to have a bit of fun with this one - taking a subject that’s instantly recognisable and giving it a completely different feel through colour.

Orange tones, loose brushwork and plenty of energy make this zebra a little harder to ignore 🧡

I love how a bold piece like this can completely change the feel of a room without taking itself too seriously.

I’ve wanted to paint a zebra for a while, and I finally decided I could have some fun with it. 🦓

No two zebras have exactly the same stripes - each pattern is completely individual. Their stripes also help them recognise one another within the herd.

I loved the idea of taking something so recognisable and making it completely my own; loose, colourful, expressive and full of life.

For me, it’s a painting about embracing individuality, but also about having fun with colour and not taking everything so seriously.

I wanted it to bring some life to a space, something to make you smile, and add a bit of energy to the days that might need it.
