We are very excited to share some news from Magnetic North East, following recent discussions regarding the future of the organisation.
After a very successful 18 months as administrator, we are delighted to announce that Charly is taking on the running of Magnetic North East moving forward. Kathryn and Andrew are thrilled to see Magnetic North East move forward in this way.
This new direction provides the opportunity for new growth in different areas, whilst maintaining the original aims of Magnetic North East - to celebrate and promote the traditional music, song and dance of the North East, by providing a point of contact for those wishing to book musicians and provide a platform for musicians, ensuring fair pay and offering opportunities to artists at all stages in their careers. Charly is very grateful to Kathryn and Andrew, for their continued support during this transition, and looking to the future. Additional thanks must go to all our fantastic musicians and artists, for their continued support.
Charly says “Building on the successes of the agency as the core of the organisation, I hope to expand projects based on education, community engagement, inter-organisation partnerships, and artist representation. As someone who received fantastic performance opportunities through Magnetic North East as a teenager, I hold the values of Magnetic North East very close, and I am delighted to be offered this opportunity by Kathryn and Andrew, and hope to help Magnetic North East to prosper. Having graduated from the Folk and Traditional Music Degree at Newcastle University less than two years ago, I am so pleased to be working within the folk and traditional music scene in this capacity, and look forward to what the future may hold for Magnetic North East!”
Kathryn and Andrew commented “We could not be more impressed with the way Charly has taken to running Magnetic North East over the last 18 months. She shares and demonstrates the values we feel are important and we are absolutely delighted that she will be building on the work everyone has done to create Magnetic North East over the last 10 years. We wish her, and all the musicians and artists who have worked with us every possible success.”
As the agency moves forward and expands in this way, we remain open to bookings and tune commissions for 2025 and beyond.
