As you may be aware, our founder and Business manager Martin Ashburn was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in December 2023 - just before his 61st birthday. He has been dealing with it not only admirably but defiantly, with the same spirit and courage that built these amazing escape rooms you all know and love.
Martin alongside other friends and family have been raising money for the MND Association as a way to say thank you for the invaluable support they give to those facing this horrible disease.
This weekend, starting Friday October 3rd, 2025:
Martin, his wife Rachel, and sons Jake and Nathan, who all play integral roles at Escape Key, are cycling the Coast to Coast route for MNDA, supported and motivated by their friends and family.
If you are able and willing, we ask that you donate what you can to this very deserving charity - these donations go into familial support, funding research and hopefully, a cure.
(The Just Giving page is linked in the comments below)
*Motor Neurone disease is a terminal illness, causing the nerves controlling voluntary muscles to degenerate, leading to increasing muscle weakness and waste over time. MND affects more than 5,000 adults in the UK at any one time - with 6 people diagnosed every day.*
We will be posting updates this weekend so stay tuned for the cycling team’s progress!
Thank you all for continuously supporting the business and the team behind it.
