Saving the best for last it’s a pleasure to finally reveal Ben Ostell
An actor from Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Ben has been a regular at the People's Theatre over the last 5 years. He has ranged from playing the over-the-top Lord Percy and Lieutenant George in both Blackadders to the more sombre and challenging roles of Edward in this year's The Hollow, and has even performed as Horatio in Hamlet at Northern Stage.
Ben is excited to be performing the Bard again, looking forward to taking on a challenging role.

Our penultimate performer is the talented Martha Watson

Martha returned to the Edinburgh fringe festival this year with a student written show "The Horse's Mouth", having performed there in 2019 with "Gilgamesh & Me". She made her directorial debut with Dennis Kelly's "Taking Care of Baby'' earlier this year, and has recently been involved in a series of student-led short films. She is currently in the midst of writing her own play, which she hopes to put on sometime this year!

With one week left to go until we open it’s a delight to introduce Jonathan Goldman .goodman_ Jonathan brings over 40 years of performing to his debut with the Shakespeare Speakeasy. In that time he has worn (literally) every hat there is to wear in the biz (and believe me - he LOVES wearing hats).

Jonathan comes to us from 'across the pond', so no, we've not asked him to put on a 'silly' American accent. In the States he was a one-stop shop for your Production needs. He's done Voice-Overs, Audiobooks, Live Television, Film, and every facet of Theatre imaginable. Some of his favourite theatrical credits include: Joseph (Joesph..Dreamcoat Regional Tour), Senior Pirelli (Sweeney Todd), and Nathan Detroit (Guys and Dolls). In regards to the Bard, he fell in love with the words back in High School, and hosted a Shakespeare Festival at his theatre in Minnesota every summer.

The People's Theatre is Jonathan's theatrical home here in the UK, where he had his first experience as the baddie in last year's Panto, and earlier this year 'A Northern Odyssey'. You can catch him again in this year's panto as Daddy Bear, and next March with Alnwick Stage Musical Society as Curly in their production of 'Oklahoma!'

Todays performer announcement Nathan McGowran .

Nathan has been performing from the age of 11, and was trained professionally at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) between 2015 and 2018, with credits in training including; Anton Chekhov's 'Ivanov', 'Chekhov in Hell', and ‘The Skriker'. More recent credits include
Philippe in 'The Fourth Musketeer' (High Fliers Films, 2022), his first feature-length film for Amazon Prime, and most recently Hamlet in... well, 'Hamlet'(Theatre Space NE, 2022).

Nathan is no stranger to the work of the Bard, having performed in a variety of outdoor Shakespeare productions over the last four years and performing a scene from 'Henry VI - Part III' at the Globe Theatre itself!

He is very excited to be returning to the People's Theatre, the first ever stage he performed on over 11 years ago, when he performed 'Billy Elliot - The Musical' in 2011 at the age of 14 and is thrilled to finally be a part of the Shakespeare Speakeasy, after consistently forgetting to apply for it for the last three years!
