We’ve been putting together a medley of Rum Punch to pitch the show today at Beam Showcase in Leeds - a festival / initiative to get new musicals out there! Hubert the Clam and squiddly squoo will be making cameos! 🤞 🤞

CAST ANNOUNCEMENT!

And finally joining the swashbuckling team with an array of instruments and singing talent is local actor Katie Tranter!

Katie Tranter is an Actor-Musician, Theatre Maker and Physical Performer. She trained with the National Youth Theatre, holds a First Class BA (Hons) in Drama from Exeter University and went on to complete the two year postgraduate programme at the Nouveau Colombier International School of Physical Theatre and Mime in Madrid.

Katie is co-Artistic Director of award winning North East physical theatre collective Fun in the Oven Theatre and a regular performer at Newcastle improvised comedy night 'Let Us Make It Up To You'.

CAST ANNOUNCEMENT!

Bringing their vocals and musical skills to the stage with an instrument (or 4!) is Newcastle based musician Adam Sams!

Adam Sams is a multi-instrumental musician based in Newcastle upon Tyne specialising in improvisation. Best known for his work as lead guitarist in Velvoir, a transgender fronted avant-garde rock band, Adam has been involved in an eclectic mix of projects. It's plausible to find him in a hip-hop jam band, a brass parade or playing bass clarinet in a meditative soundscape.

What's a musical without a little music? Serenading you with their haunting beautiful voice and playing the role of our Leading Sea Siren is local actor and musician Ruth Patterson!

At the age of 19, Ruth Patterson moved to Newcastle-Upon-Tyne to study fashion design, whilst at the same time building a name for herself on the UK and international music scene as the front-woman of festival rock band, Holy Moly & The Crackers.
Ruth has been announced as Artist-In-Residence at the Sage Gateshead, one of the UK’s leading cultural institutions, where she will write and develop her debut EP. She is also a regular activist and speaker for the charity Attitude Is Everything, who help disabled fans and artists in the music industry.

CAST ANNOUNCEMENT!

Captain Backwash the local retired fisherwoman will be played by actor Nikki Hill, who is coming to Newcastle all the way from Wales to play with us at Alphabetti Theatre!

Nikki Hill hails from the hills of Wales. She quivers and quails at the demise of the whales. She trained firstly in circus and theatre at Circomedia, and since, in clown and theatre at L'école Philippe Gaulier. She is silly and wise and flexible and cries when she can't run in the wilds with her hound.
