✨ A new chapter ✨
After a lot of thought, I’ve decided that enrolment for Artful Threads will close on 30 September.
I filmed Artful Threads throughout 2025, and it has been such an important part of my journey as a tapestry artist and teacher. I’ve loved seeing the wonderful work so many of you have created through the course.
But a year on, I’ve continued to learn, experiment and develop my own practice — and my teaching has evolved too. The way I understand and explain tapestry techniques has grown and changed through teaching, making and simply having more time at the loom.
I feel ready now to take all of that learning forward.
Rather than continually revisiting an earlier body of work, I want to put my energy into creating and designing new things, with everything I’ve learned along the way.
So this feels like the right time to close this chapter and make space for the next one.
If you’ve been thinking about joining Artful Threads, you’ll have until 30 September to enrol. You will maintain lifetime access to this unique course.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of the Artful Threads journey. I’m so proud of every one of you.
I’m excited about what comes next….. (and there definitely is a next 🩵)

If you’ve ever wanted to learn tapestry, I now have multiple ways you can join me.
From online lessons available worldwide to my workshops in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK (now returned for the Autumn).
My online courses are phased currently in 3 ways, with more ideas forming. Scroll across to learn more ➡️

Step 1 is my Beginner’s Course. This has been a great success since its launch almost 2 years ago.
We go through everything needed to start your journey, including links to materials. I show you how to make your own tapestry loom too.
We work through shapes, hatching, importance of cartoons, pig tailing and so much more. We finish with this lovely little landscape.
The best part is you only need DK or 8 ply yarn.
More info is on my website.

Step 2 - my new YouTube channel. Why did I launch this?
I wanted my new channel to bridge the gap between my Beginner and Advanced course. It also follows on nicely if you’ve done a workshop with me.
I go over little tips and tricks, to reinforce what you’ve already learned. Or it has enough information to get you started. I will also keep adding little artworks to do together, like this hatched sunset.
This channel will NOT cover colour blending or advanced techniques. That’s where Artful Threads comes in ➡️

Step 3 - Artful Threads. Now the fun really begins as we switch to fine yarns.
If you scroll along this is just a fraction of topics I cover.
We start to understand the joy of painting on the loom. It’s starts gently and then we advance in to seascapes and landscapes. It also covers warp play, fringeless, weaving side on and so much more. Students go on to develop their own works with success.
It was filmed over a 9 month period and has 35 hours of video.

Now you can but what do you need?
Simply click on the YouTube link in my bio to access these two longer classes.
You can use any loom and DK or 8 ply yarn. I also show you how to make a simple frame loom too.
How does my channel differ from my online courses? It acts as a midway point between my Beginner and colour blending course called Artful Threads. You get to practise small works of art that feature in my workshops.
Plus there’s lots of useful tips to help get you started on your journey 🩵

Workshops incoming …… My studio has been having a little makeover. My studio is in Ouseburn where there are lots of vintage furniture sellers. I have removed my huge Ikea tables and replaced with a teak extending desk from Bibelot Nook, vintage furniture, interiors & fashion . My students will have so much more room to relax.
I also spied a fab Ercol chair and drawers from I love them. Thank you 🙏
It’s great to support local. New dates coming xx

Fancy another lesson? I’ll be editing today’s filming for this lesson on hatching and semi circles later today.
Hatching (using two colours in the sea) is a great way to add interest to an area using solid colours.
Keep an eye on my stories when it’s ready to watch ☺️
