Freshly Squeezed: Open Mic Night at Cobalt Studios A monthly open-mic night at Cobalt! A monthly open-mic night at Cobalt led by Jayne Dent! Join us for an evening of new & evolving music and spoken word.

With free entry for all come and watch or take your place in the spotlight, share your tunes and chatter. Sign up for a slot from 7pm and get comfortable, performances will begin shortly after. Welcoming everyone from seasoned performers to first timers; bringing fresh material or old classics this is a friendly and non-judgmental community that welcomes all.

Thanks for another lovely open mic night!!!

Performers videos will be uploaded in the next couple of days... but we just wanted to say a huge thanks for all the recommendations in response to the video we posted asking about managing limited slots on the night!

Here's what we did to make things a little more smooth:
1. Wrote out a more rigid schedule for the night so we could predict likely extra time amounts and track how under/over time we were
2. We put a couple of posters up when slots were full, and the person on the door also told people as they arrived
3. Had a separate rolling "extra time" sign up list

The night went ahead like this:
👉 Jayne's intro
👉 6 performance slots
👉 20 min Interval
👉 6 performance slots
Then...we were able to get all 3 extra time performers in before curfew.

This might not be the way every event goes as the run times of each performance varies. However, we think this went pretty well!

Performers!

Is there a useful way we could let you know all the guaranteed slots are taken, so you can decide if you want to sign up for extra time or not?

Thoughts we had were...

1. A poster on the door
2. The person on the door letting everyone know as they come in
3. An Instagram story/post (in case you've not arrived yet and don't want to turn up and be disappointed!)
4. All of the above?

(The one thing we are keen to keep is the first come, first serve sign up format - we've always done it this way and we won't be switching to advanced sign ups for a few logistical reasons I shant bore you with)

Always always want to hear feedback generally on how we can make Freshly Squeezed a better experience for the performers and audience 🍊 so hugely appreciate any thoughts on this or any other things you might have ideas for!

Firstly we've got some big news...
Freshly Squeezed Open Mic Night is moving to a Tuesday Night!

Woahhhh there hope you're all still with us in our lil move along the week ⏳️🍊 it'll be just as juicy!

Our first event back is on Tuesday 30th September so you can get it in your diary already and get practicing ~ can't wait!
