🎬 MEET THE CREATIVE TEAM | DAVID DUCASSE – DIRECTOR

Performer. Pop star. Eurovision. Presenter. Producer. Director.
David Ducasse has never exactly stuck to one lane. ⚡️

Best known as a member of SCOOCH, representing the UK at the Eurovision Song Contest, David has spent more than 30 years working across music, television, radio and theatre.

After running his own theatre school for 22 years, he has now directed more than 50 productions, from Sweeney Todd and Avenue Q to Hairspray, Beauty and the Beast, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, NATIVITY! and Calendar Girls.

But this one comes with history…

David first directed We Will Rock You at The Sage Gateshead, with his former student Jade Thirlwall as Scaramouche.

Now he’s back to reinvent one of his favourite shows for O2 City Hall Newcastle.

New cast. New vision. Same legendary music.

💃 MEET THE TEAM | ALANNA BARRY – DANCE CAPTAIN

From Oliver! to We Will Rock You… Alanna has been with us every step of the way! ⚡️

Alanna Barry first joined Astravaganza Entertainment for our 2023 production of Oliver! at the Tyne Theatre & Opera House and has gone on to be involved in every Astravaganza production since.

Alongside performing, Alanna has become a hugely valued member of our creative team as Dance Captain, previously taking on the role for Everybody’s Talking About Jamie at The Customs House and NATIVITY! The Musical at Sunderland Empire in 2025.

Most recently, audiences saw her swap the rehearsal room for the WI as Elaine in Calendar Girls at O2 City Hall Newcastle.

This October she’s back at City Hall, working alongside choreographer Matthew Banks to keep our company sharp, together and ready to rock! 🎸🔥

We’re delighted to have Alanna back as Dance Captain for WE WILL ROCK YOU!

⭐️ MEET THE TEAM | MICHELLE BARRY – PRODUCTION ASSISTANT

Every production needs someone behind the scenes who somehow seems to be everywhere at once… and for us, that’s Michelle! ❤️

Michelle Barry joined the Astravaganza family in 2023 when her daughter Alanna appeared in our production of Oliver! at the Tyne Theatre & Opera House. Three years later, we’re not quite sure how we ever managed without her!

As our Company Production Assistant, Michelle is an invaluable part of making our shows happen. From rehearsal registration and chaperoning to costumes, props, tuck shop duties and supporting the Creative Team, she turns her hand to just about anything — while also being Liam’s trusty right-hand woman throughout the production process.

And now she’s back helping us bring the world of We Will Rock You to life at O2 City Hall Newcastle this October. ⚡️🎸

Quite simply… we love you, Michelle! 🖤

🎹 MEET THE CREATIVE TEAM | LAURA TINDALL – MUSICAL DIRECTOR

From Calendar Girl to Killer Queen… 🎸

We’re thrilled to welcome Laura Tindall to the creative team of We Will Rock You as our Musical Director.

Laura brings more than 20 years of experience as a music educator, performer, pianist and musical director. As Head of Music at a leading secondary school, she has spent much of her career developing young performers, directing choirs, bands, youth theatre and productions including Fame, Grease and Bugsy Malone.

She’s also no stranger to North East stages herself, with credits including Avenue Q, The Producers, West Side Story, Jekyll & Hyde, La Cage aux Folles and The Witches of Eastwick — as well as performing with ensembles for Take That and Barry Manilow.

Astravaganza audiences will most recently have seen Laura playing Marie in Calendar Girls at O2 City Hall Newcastle. Now she swaps the WI for the music room as she takes on the small task of bringing Queen’s legendary catalogue to life! ⚡🎶
