Some our youngest festival-goers enjoyed their very first live piano experience this year... 🦁🦊🎶

Music That Tells a Story returned to provide a playful, interactive introduction to piano music for children and their families, full of movement, imagination and familiar melodies.

Our programme is centered around a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere, and we're delighted to host a range of family-friendly events for all ages to enjoy.

Aspiring pianists join an orchestra of musicians in the heart of Jesmond to deliver a performance like no other...

🗓️ Save the date! 22 May 2027

The Newcastle Piano Festival Concerto Experience Day gives six pianists the rare opportunity to rehearse and perform a movement of a piano concerto with a full orchestra.

Designed as a supportive learning experience rather than a competition, participants will work alongside professional musicians, gain invaluable orchestral experience and perform in an informal public concert. Applications will open this summer, with places available across a range of playing levels.

Newcastle Piano Festival aims to bring innovative and accessible learning and performance experiences to our local community.

The famous Eight Hands Extravaganza returned for the third time this year, with fantastic repertoire for 4, 6 and 8 hands!
Performers Annie Ball, Venera Bojkova, Alison Gill and Yoshie Kawamura joined forces with fantastic, rarely performed repertoire.

Supporting the next generation of pianists is one of the things we’re most passionate about. 🙌

This year, Thomas Slater took part in our pilot Mentorship Programme, working closely with festival coaches before giving a showcase performance as part of Newcastle Piano Festival.

Watching his confidence and musicianship grow over the course of the programme was a real highlight for everyone involved.
