A juicy contemporary class for all levels, building through dynamic movement and fluid choreography before finishing with a longer movement phrase.

Dance through ballet barre and centre work before learning the Black Swan variation from Swan Lake, with adaptations offered throughout.

A truly incredible performance. A massive well done to all of our dancers. Your professionalism, commitment, and dedication to creating such a brilliant performance really paid off.

We truly appreciate the trust you place in your teachers and choreographers. Thank you for paying attention to the finer details, embracing the process, and trusting your own artistry.

As always, what stood out the most was the support you show one another. The teamwork that goes into helping each other perform with confidence is so special. Thank you for making NEDP what it is.

Thank you to Diane Becke for creating the most beautiful tutus, our dancers absolutely love wearing them.

A huge thank you to Nick and Liam at Dance City. The lighting was unbelievable and elevated the performance to another level. Thank you for your hard work and attention to detail in bringing the show to life.

Performance Day Dance City

Good luck to all of our wonderful dancers, and guest performers as you take to the stage this evening. Enjoy every moment as it goes so quickly!

NEDP dancers, we’re incredibly proud of everything you’ve achieved this term. Every one of you has challenged yourselves, developed your technique and performance skills, and supported each other throughout the process. It’s been a pleasure for all of our teachers to work with you this term, and we can’t wait to see you perform.

We’re delighted to announce that Rachel Armstrong and Telisa Cottier will be performing alongside the North East Dance Project dancers in Summer Works tomorrow at Dance City.

Rachel Armstrong is a Professional Ballet Dancer from Northumberland. She trained at the Bolshoi Ballet Academy in Moscow. After graduating in 2021 she moved back to the UK to freelance.

She is currently a principal dancer with English Youth Ballet where not only has she had the pleasure of performing such roles as Aurora in the sleeping beauty, Odile in Swan Lake and Myrtha in Giselle but she has had the privilege of teaching the young students within the company. A rewarding experience which inspires her to follow all avenues of the art and delve deeper into her passion. She also teaches dancers of all ages locally and enjoys sharing her knowledge with young dancers and adult dancers alike.

Telisa is North East based dance artist. She trained at Roehampton University in London, and completed an MA in dance performance at Dance City. She has previously performed works by artists including Kate Taylor Dance, Fubunation, Combination Dance Company and Southpaw Company. Telisa has also toured as a dancer in the circus, both in the UK and abroad. Alongside this, she has been teaching dance to children and adults in London and recently in the North East.

In 2020, Dutch singer-songwriter Catch The Sparrow moved countries in the middle of the pandemic to pursue her love for folk and traditional music. After showcasing her craft as a songwriter on her jazz-inspired debut album ‘Painting The Roses Red’ (2021), she established herself as a singular new voice on the folk scene with the release of her EP ‘Winter Flowers’ (2022). A natural storyteller with a keen ear for captivating melodies, her songs effortlessly cross boundaries of style and genre to create a sound that is uniquely her own.

Fairground Reminiscence is a dance theatre performance by Adam Russell and Alys North celebrating the culture, heritage and legacy of the travelling fairground community. Inspired by Adam’s father, Keith, and his childhood memories of growing up travelling with the fair, the performance combines dance with a soundscape, featuring the voices of showmen sharing their own memories of childhood, family life and growing up in the showman community. This performance shares two sections from the larger work, exploring family life while travelling with the fair and nostalgic fairground side stalls, lesser seen on today’s travelling fairgrounds.
