There's a version of the story a lot of creative business owners tell themselves, where outsourcing is the thing you graduate to once you're successful enough to afford it. Once the business is big enough, the income is consistent enough, and the to-do list is unmanageable enough. Something you earn rather than something you actively choose.

I'd push back on that quite firmly, and not just because it's what HVA does đź‘€
The creative professionals I see building the most sustainable careers and businesses aren't the ones working the hardest or doing the most. They're the ones who worked out relatively early what actually needed their attention and found the right support for everything else, which freed up their time and energy for the work that actually moves things forward.

Yes, I may be boring, but that doesn’t mean what it says on the tin!

My episode of The Showbiz Side Hustle Podcast with @‌performerpreneur went live last week. Did you catch it?! ✨

My chapter in Spotlight on Success is called The Business of Show Business, and when Nicole and I sat down to talk about it, the conversation went somewhere I really wasn’t expecting. We ended up going deep into what that title actually means, not just professionally, but personally.

My brother once described me as boring. For a long time I didn’t entirely disagree. While everyone around me in the industry seemed effortlessly spontaneous and glamorous, I was the one quietly reading my contracts, updating my mileage every Monday morning, and wondering why I never quite felt at home in the room I was standing in.

Those were the qualities I once packaged up and labelled as my least exciting traits. They became the foundation of HVA.
