N E W S • Hello everyone, hope you’ve all been enjoying the delights of autumn. Sorry I’ve been a bit quiet of late. I have a bit of news, I’m going to be taking a wee break from Kin. I started thinking up Kin when Evie was just a few months old and we were in peak lockdown 2020. Planning the gigs gave me a welcome dose of escapism from the Covid day-to-day. I was finding things tough with a toddler and a newborn and dreaming up Kin helped me when I needed it most.

Nobody and I mean nobody was as surprised as me when tickets for the first gig sold out so quickly. I’ve been working on the gigs in the evenings when the kids are in bed or squeezing some time in before work. It’s been exhausting but so much fun too. Kin has done so much better than I ever thought it would and without doubt the best bit has been seeing all of the familiar faces returning time and again. Such a lovely group of regulars 🧡

As life has returned to normal post-pandemic, I’ve noticed everything getting that bit busier, work and life in general. Now Mac has started school I have a day off through the week to spend just me and Evie and it feels like the right time to have a bit of a rest.

Thank you so much to everyone who has helped to build Kin into what it is. A special thanks to the wonderful, hardworking team at Tyne Bank Brewery Tap, all of the lovely musicians/DJs who have played and to GlitterWhipped and The Jesmond Ice Cream Company for making it all that bit extra. The biggest thanks has to go to Adam, the kids and the grandparents though - my Kin squad.

It would have stayed a little maternity leave pipedream if it weren’t for you all. Thank you for all the support. This isn’t the last of Kin, when the time is right it will be back. X

Don’t know what it is about Fridays but they always get me thinking about Kin. My two kids are total polar opposites on the day. My eldest loves crafting and is never far from the play area - after he’s been glittered to bits from GlitterWhipped obviously. And my youngest is a raver in the making and enjoys booting off on the dance floor - I’m definitely gonna have to keep my eye on that one 😂 Then at around 2pm she just wants snuggles and I’m happy to oblige. Love it how they’ve found their own little rhythm. Proper little gig goers!

There are still some tickets left if you want to get involved on Sunday 11th September. We’ll have live music, a DJ workshop for the kids as well as totally lush ice cream, sweet treats, food, a play area and crafts!

After a long hot summer it will be good to be back with some live music on the 11th of September Tyne Bank Brewery Tap I’ve got two stand-out acts I’m very happy to share with you.

Bosola is a three-piece band with the jingly jingliest of riffs. Described as bold, enthralling, fresh and endlessly replayable, their sound has a definite 90s feel that makes you want to dance yourself silly.

Following Bosola is an acoustic set from the extraordinarily talented Kristos Kabiotis Music He’s coined his own unique and dreamy sound complete with hues of Fleet Foxes and Beach House. Nostalgic lyricism and captivating melodies combine to make Kristos a real treat for the ears.

We’ll also have food, the best beer this side of the Tyne, a play area, crafting, glitter face paints, ice cream, cakes and DJ lessons for the kids to boot. Oh, and absolutely loads of balloons as per!

From September’s Kin, I’ll be offering a single-parent discount on adult tickets. It’s only a pound off but it’s just a way of showing my appreciation to all the single m**s and dads out there. I’ve been so lucky to meet lots of lovely single parents and their super canny kids at Kin gigs, and I just think you all do such a brilliant job ✊ The reduced-rate tickets will be on a trust basis - I won’t be asking for proof of single parenthood!

Got some fantastic news, a Newcastle-based dance floor collective is bringing their child-friendly DJ workshops to September's Kin!

I saw these guys at Heaton Park festival and they created such a buzz, the kids loved them. So many buttons to press, k***s to turn and beats to match, what's not to love? So happy to have them on-board!

What can I say other than Little Lindi Festival was absolutely mint. Had the best weekend and so did the kids. They took to the festival like little ducks to water. I couldn’t be prouder! We will 100% be booking up next year. So much on for the kids from den building to trapeze. They just loved roaming around and felt like a very safe space for them to do so. Loads on for the adults too it was a fantastic mix. Had the best time 👍

I think our big sweaty smiles say it all. Thank you so much to everyone for coming today. We brought the sunshine and then some 😎 Wonderful mix of regulars and new faces.
