Born in Japan, Kei Jones started ballet at the age of 4.

After a successful audition she came to UK to study at Elmhurst Ballet School at the age of 14. At 16 she won a place at English National Ballet School where she completed her training. In 2002 Kei was offered a professional contract to work with UK’s largest international touring ballet company, English National Ballet. In 2016 Kei completed her dance teaching qualifications Level 6 with bbodance

. A soloist ballerina, Kei performed in over 30 different classical and contemporary dance productions all over the world and worked and collaborated with the best dancers of her generation including Alina Cojocaru, Vadim Muntagirov, Akram Khan, Flawless and more. Kei’s career highlights include performing on the Pyramid stage at Glastonbury and dancing with Flawless at O2 Arena. Currently Kei teaches ballet, contemporary, stretch and private lessons regularly in Newcastle-under-lyme. Kei also teaches the senior Ballet Boost Associates in Hull. Kei is passionate about passing on her vast experience and love for dance. I aim to inspire the next generation of dancers to support their technical and artistic skills required in ever changing dance world to achieve their full potential. ✨ Nutcracker Workshop Magic ✨

Our dancers had an absolutely fantastic workshop today with Daniel Jones and Kei Jones (Kei Akahoshi) - both former dancers with the English National Ballet.

They generously shared their knowledge and experiences of performing The Nutcracker in London’s West End, with Daniel having performed in the production for an incredible 30 years and Kei for an incredible 14 years!

The dancers worked so hard throughout the session, showing exceptional focus, professionalism and commitment. We are so proud of the high standards they brought - looking the part, dancing the part, and embracing the true spirit of The Nutcracker!

A massive thank you to Daniel and Kei for such an inspiring and memorable workshop. We are so grateful for everything you shared with our dancers and can’t wait to work with you both again in the near future!!

As always, our dancers represented MJDC beautifully and did us and all their grown ups incredibly proud !! A huge well done to you all!! 💖🤍🩰

Today is exactly 10 years since my last performance with English National Ballet 🩰

Returning to the Manchester Palace Theatre for ENB’s Sleeping Beauty, the stage of my final performance, was incredibly moving.

Many thanks to Jem for the backstage tour—my daughter adored trying on tiaras and tutus still labelled with my name.

It was wonderful to revisit the role and to enjoy the ballet from the audience’s perspective. A beautiful full-circle moment.

Two weeks to go until our very first DJ Dance Event - Screening of ITV1's 'Men in Tights' and Q&A, featuring Daniel Jones, English National Ballet and male dancers from Swan Hunter shipyard! 🙌
