I wrote this on my last visit to Ffald y brenin

My Rest In You I Gain

I hear the whisper of the wind
The trickle of the fountain
The buzzing of the bees
The crickets they are singing
As the butterflies float by
And swallows soar and dive
Neath cloudy sun warmed sky
My soul it comes alive

I see the pretty flowers
Pure white and brightest red
They remind me of your goodness
The blood that you have shed
The purple and the yellow
The royal robes you wear
The crown that shines with glory
Oh beauteous one so fair

I feel the gentle breezes
The coolness soothes my brow
I feel the warming sunshine
That soothes my heart some how
And deep within the stillness
It purifies my soul
Giving me a tranquil moment
That restores and makes me whole

Such perfect love so wild and free
There are no earthly boundaries
No limits like the tidal sea
You never say "enough
Can't give you anymore"
Your fountain of pure love
Just pours and pours and pours

You ruffle me with breezes
You blow away the pain
And gently with your whisper
My rest in you I gain
I breathe you in with beauty
I sigh with you in peace
Releasing all my worries
And find in you release

Ffald y Brenin Easter 2019
Like children running gaily the trees grew down the hill. Their wild and unkempt branches like curly hair and frills. And to their left the grassy bank shone bright in spring lime green. With ancient paths like railway tracks that disappeared and gleamed. And nearby on a hilltop stands a wooden cross, surrounded by some thorny gorse, reminding us the cost. A place of rest and refuge a time to ponder still. Giving us a thankful heart, His choice a bitter pill. So in this place of glorious peace we're cleansed by his spilled blood, the love of God still flowing down to us just like a flood. So here I sit and breathe and sigh releasing tears again, knowing that His saving grace always will remain.

I recently spent time at my favourite retreat and wrote a poem called Ffald y Brenin

Even in the midst of tough times God brings comfort through his creation.
Glorious Light
The trees shone bright with a dewy glaze
In the early mist of the morning haze
And sunlit clouds bathed the hills in white
As if snow had fallen in the morning light
Majestic firs took their stately form
As rolling clouds left their hint of dawn
The spritely birds leave their nests to play
In the glorious light of a sun filled day.

Todays offering whether it's a poem hymn or song enjoy and let it's music resonate within your heart:
The Day Awakens With A Song

The day awakens with raindrops and flowers
As days begin to shorten
And no longer linger on
Autumn's finger beckons
As harvest now are ripening
And dying oh so slowly
In vibrancy her song
The purple of the heather
On vales and on the moors
As ferns are turning brown
Orange rowan berries fall
The gorse is still bright yellow
And trees are green and bright
But watch the birds are gathering
Preparing for their flight
The hay is all now gathered
In bales all big and round
The wheat and corn are standing tall
They're waiting for the sound
The harvester is coming
It's blades are running nigh
And golden are the sunsets
Before the moon rides high
The chaff is separated
It is taken with the wind
The heads they are now beaten
Their hour of life now dimmed
So are you standing ready
Prepared to take your toll
Can you take the threshing
Return to feed the soil
A grain of wheat must die to live
To be planted once again
To produce one hundred thousand fold
Will you die to live my friend?
Will you live to die?
Will you ride on high?
The victory is yours
Will you call his name declare his fame?
Will you stand and give applause?

Warrior Bride
When life seems hard and there's no way out
Push ahead there is no doubt.
Somebody loves you
Somebody cares
Why sit around?
Why split hairs?
Move with intention
Use your resource
Choose positivity
We all have a choice
So much to be thankful
In life's ups and downs
Smile for returns
Smooth out your frowns
Life has its wrinkles
But wrinkles are good
They show us the journey
Of times when we stood
Firm in the battles
Strong under fire
Holding up shields
Of faith all the while
Life isn't easy
It's meant to be hard
But you are a warrior
So keep up your guard

It's time for a poem, so here's one I wrote on one of my favourite walks here in West Wales.

Autumns' Bugle Call

It's like confetti, she thought
As the canopy above her shed it's leaves
In golden cascades
Dancing in the breeze
Through beams of morning light
And her heart, skipped with joy
At the colour and glory displayed

A copper coloured carpet beneath her feet
With the distant hills changing, in sunlight and shadow
As fluffy white clouds played and ran on a clear blue sky
One minute lime green on the hill
Then on the field in front of her
Bleaching the sheep in their thick woolly coats
Bleating and running at the slightest sound or movement

Oh and the glory of colour painting the landscape!
In browns and golds, reds and greens
Where streams of light bathe the streets with silver
Brightening the whitewashed cottages
And beige stone barns
Like a bugle call
Announcing the presence of royalty

Does not this beauty represent the artist our creator
Pouring beauty, light and joy on our land
This land, the land of our Fathers
The land of revival!
